June 4-10
Permalink Posted 10:06 am in Categories: Poker

As requested, I will start a new blog each week and post under accordingly.

Last night brutal, steam control bad, play unlucky and some bad call downs.

Lost 2 SNGs again-did I mention that the last 4 have been on the bubble-especially painful.

Reg limit game I was getting sucked out like crazy. A10 SB vs 33 BB and flop AQ10 and play to check raise after he popped preflop. He checks, turn K, I check now scared and pot too small to get paid off. River 3.

KK 3 bet preflop, flop A73, lose to A7 raiser.

A5 suited limp flop 442 and bet only BB calls. Turn 3, he check raises I 3 bet (he has to have a 4 to raise, right?) he calls. Turn 2, we both check, he shows J2 for bottom pair and a 2 outer.

I am now on major tilt. Screw this, I move up a level and play 6 handed. I am now prepared to blow what I have at the site and go play live if I bust. I win 1/2 of what I lost and a bigger game opens 9 handed. I win back everything I had lost and am up $17 for the night.

I was going to quit and cash a chunk out. My history is that when I have too much money online I play bigger and bigger until I catch some bad luck and bust out. However, the table seemed juicy and I had a good table image, so just give it another 30-45 minutes and try and win $100-150 or so (just a few pots at this level).

K5 suited in the BB and the SB pops preflop, I call, heads up. Flop QJ4 w/ flush draw. He bets, I raise. Turn Q, I bet, he calls after going in the tank. River blank, I bet, he almost runs out of time and finally calls with A10. DOH!

5 hands later, MP same dude pops, I 3 bet w/ AQ-he was raising a lot and many 3 bets took down the pot after the flop. Flop KQ6, I bet he calls. Turn A, I bet, he calls. River blank. Something didnt feel right, he rarely checked when missing the flop, so I can only beat a weak A. J10, set, AK are all possible. I bet anyway, he raises and shows 66.

Once again, I should have quit when I got unstuck.

All in all, only down what I lost at the regular games and SNGs, but a painful night. At least I got to bed at a decent time.

Another day, another dollar
Permalink Posted 11:14 pm in Categories: Poker

going on almost 2 hours tonight, but doing some laundry and stuff while playing. Won a SNG and busted out in eigth in another. Running incredibly well at 3/6 right this week.

Ever wonder how when you are taking down a ton of pots and showing winners your bluffs work almost every time? Things tend to snowball in both directions. I guess the moral is, dont bluff if you are losing.

I thought the streak would be broken tonight, dropped 1/2 my buy in right away, then bounced right back and am up over 25 big bets, plus the SNG money.

Check out these stats:

Statistics for 193 Hands

Street Saw Saw/Total
Flop 66 34%
Turn 43 22%
River 31 16%
Showdown 27 14%

Street Won Won/Saw Won/Total
Pre-flop 6 3% 3%
Flop 7 11% 4%
Turn 3 7% 2%
River 2 6% 1%
Showdown 16 59% 8%

Crazy huh? 8 handed and winning 18% of total pots? That is with sitting out 30 hands putting away clothes. Flops seen is a bit high, showdowns are a bit low (called down w/ AK twice in 1st 10 hands w/ rags on the board and no reads). But how often can you take down 50% of the flops you see?

Full Tilt......back in black
Permalink Posted 11:07 am in Categories: Poker

I quit playing online because of some of the deposit/withdrawal restrictions and headaches. But Full Tilt has made it easier, so I thought I would give them another try.

I deposited a whopping $95 using my bank/visa ATM card, I thought that there was no way that it would go through. It was rejected from my bank once, but went through the 2nd time Full Tilt submitted it.

The other reason I dumped more money is was that my wife was getting terrible headaches and even went to the Dr. Since I was looking at a LONG weekend of staying at home taking care of the rugrats, I need something to do.

Meanwhile, I played some $.50/$1 NL and had a sick run and ran my balance over $400 in a about 3 hours. I was flopping sets w/ AA and KK, catching flushes, you name it-dumb luck, no skill, easy money.

The next day (Kentucky Derby day) I had 45 minutes to kill so I saw 5/10 limit had seat and a high average pot. I lost $250 in no time. I flopped top pair and big draw (50% multiway pots) and raised the piss out of it and came up empty each time. 3 $200+ pots where was good shape on the flop and lost all to overpairs.

Now I am pissed. We then go to Canterbury Horse Track/Card Club for the Derby and their opening day. We see one race and decide that it was too crowded and rainy to stay. Off to Chili's for appetizers and the Derby. What an F*ing bust of a day. Home early.

The next week I was a victim of my earlier success and played NL like I was bulletproof. I wasnt. Down to $45. The smart thing to do is to drop down to a lower game and rebuild. I decided to sit down short stacked on tilt and play 3/6 limit for win or bust. I got down to the felt twice before taking down $200 when I really caught some nice cards. OK, done for the day.

Next day, 3/6 and a $11 turbo SNG, I win $100 and 2nd. Nice. 45 minutes. I quit.

Next same, $150 and 3rd. 1 hour, I quit.

Next $120, $70 and 1st. 1 hour, I quit.

Next $170, $22 turbo SNG 2nd. 75 minute, I quit.

Next $115, $22 turbo 3rd , 1 hour, quit.

I think 20BB/hour at 3/6 is what I should expect going forward. I put in the order for a new black Porsche 911 Carerra 2 conv (right).

In the past, I would play WAY into the night until I played bad. For now, I am goind with the fresh deposit win switch turned on and just getting in and out quickly. Maybe I am leaving money on the table, but it is better than falling asleep at work.

Now I am just having headaches getting FT to approve check withdrawal. I am leaving for a fishing weekend on Thursday and would like to have a check in the mail by then. We will see.
