June 4-10
Permalink Posted 10:06 am in Categories: Poker

As requested, I will start a new blog each week and post under accordingly.

Last night brutal, steam control bad, play unlucky and some bad call downs.

Lost 2 SNGs again-did I mention that the last 4 have been on the bubble-especially painful.

Reg limit game I was getting sucked out like crazy. A10 SB vs 33 BB and flop AQ10 and play to check raise after he popped preflop. He checks, turn K, I check now scared and pot too small to get paid off. River 3.

KK 3 bet preflop, flop A73, lose to A7 raiser.

A5 suited limp flop 442 and bet only BB calls. Turn 3, he check raises I 3 bet (he has to have a 4 to raise, right?) he calls. Turn 2, we both check, he shows J2 for bottom pair and a 2 outer.

I am now on major tilt. Screw this, I move up a level and play 6 handed. I am now prepared to blow what I have at the site and go play live if I bust. I win 1/2 of what I lost and a bigger game opens 9 handed. I win back everything I had lost and am up $17 for the night.

I was going to quit and cash a chunk out. My history is that when I have too much money online I play bigger and bigger until I catch some bad luck and bust out. However, the table seemed juicy and I had a good table image, so just give it another 30-45 minutes and try and win $100-150 or so (just a few pots at this level).

K5 suited in the BB and the SB pops preflop, I call, heads up. Flop QJ4 w/ flush draw. He bets, I raise. Turn Q, I bet, he calls after going in the tank. River blank, I bet, he almost runs out of time and finally calls with A10. DOH!

5 hands later, MP same dude pops, I 3 bet w/ AQ-he was raising a lot and many 3 bets took down the pot after the flop. Flop KQ6, I bet he calls. Turn A, I bet, he calls. River blank. Something didnt feel right, he rarely checked when missing the flop, so I can only beat a weak A. J10, set, AK are all possible. I bet anyway, he raises and shows 66.

Once again, I should have quit when I got unstuck.

All in all, only down what I lost at the regular games and SNGs, but a painful night. At least I got to bed at a decent time.

Crushed again last night. Nothing I could do though, KK vs AA SB vs button. Top 2 vs bottom set. Sucked out on gutshots. I never really had a chance. I did win 2 SNGs though and busted out of one. That helped to cut my losses.

I will likely take tonight off and catch up on some sleep, then hopefully hit the casino Thurs or Friday.

Now that the ponies are running again (poker room/horse track), the money is easier out there.

BTW-my wife offered to take a foster dog a few weeks ago. She does this occasionally. This one has turned into a monster. She is a 30lb dwarf German Sheppard (genetic misfit, not a result of breeding). As she has gotten more comfortable, she has really attacked our cats and "plays" with our dog-which he hates, all 8 lbs of him. I couldnt care less about the cats, but it is a major source of stress. She was suppose to go to her new home today, but that was pushed back to Friday.....crap.

Anyway, the wife might have redeemed herself by getting a job. She was going to school, but took the summer off. She was offered the position, makes her own hours and has very nice pay. If she really likes this, maybe she will quit school and stick with it. It sounds like a cash rich company and they are paying nearly what she would make if she finished school. With one kid in school and another close, it would be nice to get 2 incomes.

As planned, took Wed off. I didnt get the extra sleep I planned on, started watching movie "Wolf Creek"-pretty good!

Live last night, I was finally feeling pain free and healthy so happy to be there. I ran up over $400 in the 1st 90 minutes and should have left. But after not playing live for so long, I really wanted to play more. Then the suckouts started:

KJ BB flop J high, I check raise and am 3 bet from preflop raiser and call. Turn K, I bet out, he calls. River A, I check he bets, I call out his hand, AA? Yup.

Next BB KJ again call a raise, another multi way raised pot. Flop KQJ, I check raise and am 3 bet. Turn 3rd club, w/ a player representing a big hand and 2 more hanging around, I check. Big hand bets, next raises, I go in the tank and fold. River blank, AA vs J high flush. Damn.

2-3 BB later, several limpers I have 10 8 clubs. Flop A97 w/ 97 clubs. I bet out, am raised, 3 bet, 4 callers. Turn 10, I bet, all call. River 5 clubs and bet, someone raises, one calls, I call. Q2 clubs. WTF, playing Q2 UTG....

I drop all my profits and drop $100 or so before bouncing back to even.

I wish I didnt have a 5:30am alarm, I would play live more often and be thrilled to play for 90 minutes and cash $400. But when you are lucky to be there once a week and havent played for a month, it is tough to hit the door so quick.

So maybe I will chalk this up to cheap/free 6 hours of entertainment?

Oh, one classic hand, when I was on my rush I had 10 10 UTG and raised up, just the BB called. Flop K 10 10 ......WOW! We both check. Turn 3rd spade, I bet, he check raises....NICE. I call. He bets river and I pop, he folds.

I show, "bad time to make a move kid".

Nothing to report. No play since Thursday.

Just as my leg/foot/back were improving I tore some ligaments (I think) in my bicep getting the boat out on Saturday. Off to the orthopedic Dr this morning and will likely need surgery. Not sure how long this will mess up my playing time. OUCH.
