Listen to your gut-Day 6
Permalink Posted 12:36 am in Categories: Poker

Today started off bad from the start. Early in the morning I got a call from my boss at work. I need you here now there has been a security breach of the network he said. No… There wasn’t… What had happened was someone didn’t have the proper permissions on a directory they wanted to keep private and someone else went snooping. The snoop actually went to the big boss of the company the #1 and told her what he did. #1 called my boss the #2 who called me at home early in the morning. Nice… On top of it I woke up with a migraine and had to inject myself with my prescription which for some reason caused my shoulder to rash up and the migraine never really went away.

At work I told myself not to play poker when I got home. I knew it was a doomed day. I got stuck behind a blue hair on the way to work going 15 in a 30 with no passing options. I waited forever for the elevator. The restaurant I normally go to for lunch oddly, for the first time in seven years, was not open on time. So I had to wait and listen to my stomach grumbling. The list goes on…

I finally got to relax around 7:30pm and around 8pm jumped on FT. Where I placed third in my first SnG. Then I lost my next three and called it quits. Busted out in 4th, 5th and then 8th.

At least I take solace in knowing I didn’t play stupid with the exception of the last SnG I played. You can only lose so many coin flips. It’s 50/50 after all… I found a way to lose several. Thankfully I crushed on a few hands to where I could coast in to third on the first tourney.

The second game I just got beat. My AK suited to a pair of threes. I had 2820 chips he had 4150 and called my all-in UTG with four people left. I was hoping for action… but it turned out to be the losing kind.

The third game I just simply got blinded out. I was able to win one or two hands and ran out of gas in fifth place with no cards and no luck to do anything with.

The fourth game… I just did something dumb and something I shouldn’t have. I pushed a little too hard with the 750 which left me with 350 chips had I actually stopped and thought about the size of the bet. So if my opponent has anything good he is going to re-raise me all-in more than likely. I could have folded. But I figured why prolong the inevitable.

So yeah... I'm an idiot...

The bankroll is down to $305.84. Probably where I was at the end of day 4. Basically I slipped back two days.

The moral of the story. When you know you shouldn’t play. Don’t… Listen to your gut like you do when you play.
