If there were titles to specific days in my life, that would be today's theme.

Started the day by playing the Sunday Hundred Grand, doubled to 6k the fourth hand when someone got it in with 8's vs my Kings. Unfortunately, that would be the last time I really won a pot the rest of the tournament. Picked up three hands that ended up being the end of my tournament life, all vs short stacks with ~1000-1800.

AQ suited in the small blind, made a raise to half the BB's stack, he insta shoves and I call, he flips over AK suited.

Shake it off, three hands later, I pick up AKs, short stack shoves all in for the ~seventh~ hand in a row, I reraise to isolate, he flips over AA.

Finally, after chipping down to 3,400 chips with blinds at 400/800, I shove with KK and get snap called by AA. Bust ~600 from the money.

Played 4 SnG's, busted out of two when AK failed to hold up vs 23 and JJ couldn't hold vs 86s.

Made the money in another one, currently the big stack, pick up KK, fold from button and shove from the SB, I call, she flips 8's, rivers a set. After I'm cut in half, 3rd busts, and I get it in twice with AJ to lose and bust both times to villains Ace/rag to get second.

Last SnG, down to four players, I'm chip leader with 4,000, blinds are 300/600, I pick up KQ in the big blind, SB shoves, I make (possibly a hero call?) and he flips over 23. Flop comes KJ4, turn is a 5, river is a 6, and I'm down to 1,200 chips. I shove the next hand UTG with K9, small blind calls, flips over Q9, turns a Q and I'm out.

What I'd pay to run good break-even.

Tried to focus this blog, failed.

Been taking a long hard look at my poker game after a short break and a serious amount of reading and rereading some poker literature. Some of the stuff I read practically rocked my world; it's been so long since I questioned any way of poker other than what I've been doing for years as correct. Phil Gordon's Little Green Book only gave me about two small insights, but they've been doing wonders in concealing my hands to raises, as I'd often get predictable if I got tired.

Got Harrington on Holdem III, did all of the problems, some were predictable, others made me tweak a bit of thinking. For instance, a lot of my play UTG is very often much more aggressive in tourney settings, but HoH III showed a modified style that works better at extracting money and leaving more wiggle room if I get called and whiff or run into a solid player/calling station.

As far as tournaments go, I haven't really played as many as I'd like since I started this trial run of SnG's and MTT's, mainly due to a lack of time. College is time consuming, and if I let myself run away with it, I'll play poker too often for my own good, especially when I'm paying to be here. I guess it'll just take time to get adjusted; being 18 is kind of a mixed blessing, really.

But hey, I'm up $50 on the day. Something to be happy for, I suppose, even if I am taking a step back from my usual stakes. I've had to start playing .5/1 instead of 1/2 or 2/4, just been burned at those stakes and while I have a steady BR that makes me underrolled, I'm content to just play a few hours a day and read a bit. Nothing major, no massive overhaul to my play, just a bit of improvement and readings here and there.

Maybe when I get the time I'll start playing MTT's a bit more seriously, but it won't be this weekend...not with three major tests, one major speech, and one performance exam on my billiards class. I probably should be studying now, really xD

Hoping everyone's well.
