I haven't updated this thing in a while.
Basically I'm just playing live poker, although I did log a couple thousand hands over Christmas break.
I still primarily play 6/12 live at Hollywood Park. No hands I really feel like posting, last three sessions: -$100, yippeee...
Oh yeah and I quit my part-time job during school to play more and use it as an income, so thats kinda cool.

6/12 live and defending the dealer

Played the 6/12 game again at Hollywood Park. Made about $140 after only 5 hours, was up almost twice that, but my AA went down in flames in a huge pot and some other similar luck.
Had 33 hold up on a 2d3d4d flop. Turn A, River 2. Sounds really familiar to the last hand i posted in the advanced theory section. Had some good hands, made some good plays, just played a more tight-aggressive game, instead of trying to be too cute.
Also, this old guy sits down in seat 9 with about 60 bucks (shortstacked players in a limit game are generally the fish). He proceeds to get rivered once for his stack and begins cussing at the dealer, a couple f-words, bla blah, directed right towards the dealer. Next hand he plays his straight holds up when a third flush card comes on the river. After winning the hand, he starts cussing again at the dealer. "You tried real f------- hard to beat me." and other such crap. Now the dealer hasn't said a word but starts to get upset and says something to the guy like, "you yell at me when you lose, you yell at me when you win, what do you want me to do?"
I start defending the dealer, telling the guy to cool off, of course he snaps at me, saying he's been doing this since before I was born. I wanted to make a witty remark something along the lines of well all those years and you still suck. But I didn't, I did though, tell the dealer he was doing a fine job and not to worry about the guy. I don't think it was out of line.

Live limit hold'em is not where its at

At least for me today.
Went to Hollywood Park, decided I would cool off my NL run and take a stab at a slightly bigger limit than I normally play at, 6/12. First meaningful hand I have Ad3d in the BB and call a raise and go 3 handed to the flop. 997 with two diamonds. I check, Initial raiser bets, next guy calls, I raise, both call. I bet a black 8 on the turn. River blanks and I check/fold, initial raiser had JJ, other guy KK!
Next hand I limp in MP behind two others with pocket threes, we go 6 or 7-handed to the flop of J J 2. We check around. Turn: 3. Sweet, bad player bets, its to me next and I raise. Everyone folds, he calls. River: Q. He bets. I'm not good enough yet to fold my boat here I call and he tables JQ for the rivered better full house.
Following that hand, I get KK in EP, raise and get 5 callers! Flop comes J K 6 with two diamonds. I bet and get 4 callers. Turn blanks, I bet and get 4 callers. River is the Qd, not good, we call check and an EP player shows 6d7d for the flush, eck.
Next hand is my hand from the advanced theory section of the forum, you can play along if you like.
I have Ks6s in the SB, 4 limpers to me, I limp. BB checks. Flop comes K 9 3, I check, UTG limper bets, 3 callers, I call. Turn: K, I bet, UTG folds, one caller and then a semi-solid guy raised, I mucked. Bleh. I'm 99% raiser had either 99, 33, or K9.
Won a decent pot with JJ on a final board of like 8 8 9 T 6 or some junk. Against 2 others and I somehow one that pot.
Raised with QQ UTG and only the big blind called, he check/folded an inconspicious flop.
Had AKo in the BB. 6-handed, I check. Flop is A J 9, two hearts. I bet 3 callers. Turn T, I bet 3 callers, river blanks, we check around, my AK holds up.
Raise one EP limper with QsJs, button calls, SB calls, BB calls, limper calls. Flop: J 8 4 , two hearts. SB checks, BB bets, limper folds, I raise, button cold-calls, SB cold-calls, BB 3-bets, I call, everyone calls. Turn: 6, BB bets out I fold (he was solid TAG) River: 6h. I was up against a flush draw and BB had 84 for the counterfeited two pair.
Pretty much sums up my night, making expensive second-best boats and strong hands after another.

NL cash games are where its at

So its taken a while, but my roommate, a solid NL player himself, finally convinced me to try some NL cash at the casino. Whoah boy. In 4 sessions I've upped my bankroll 50%. Its freakin awesome. All those things I've read are right, NL is where the money is at.
1st session:
$100 NL at Hollywood Park. Nothing too exciting here, I played pretty tight the whole time...was upp 200, lost it, rebought, cashed out up 50 bucks eventually. Notable hands:
I have 44 UTG, haven't played a hand in uber-long, I raise to $15, calling station on my left calls, not too bad asian dude calls. Flop: A 8 9...I lead for 35, calling station is all-in for 45, asain guy calls, I call. Turn: 9, I check, asian checks.
River: 4! I bet 50, asian guy folds...calling station had J8, so he pretty much deserved to be rivered.
Another hand, I have 99 in EP raise to 15, solid player on my left has me covered (I have ~$100 back) makes it 35 to go. I call. Flop is K 9 4, with 2 diamonds. I check and call a 30 bet on the turn and river and then push all-in on the river for 30 more on a board of K 9 4 K 6. He hems and haws then calls and mucks AA.
Same guy later, I have 9Ts on the button, limp behind two others. Flop: Q T 6. Checks to me I bet 10. SB (same guy from last hand) is only caller.
Turn: 2 giving me a flush draw, he checks I check.
River: K completing my flush. He bets 25, I raise to 60. He hems and haws and calls with J8, hitting his gutshot on the river but losing to my straight.
Altoghether not that great. But then I hit up Vegas for a night over labor day weekend. 1/2 NL at Red Rock I was a big winner. Next blog.
