So, I looked over the first post I made on May 10th... kind of a strange thing happened. I guess in the days after that I had gone on a date with another cute cocktail waitress at work... and well after it didn't work out, I did a stupid thing and called an ex girlfriend from two years ago! We had a great conversation, and for a few days I was contemplating on whether I would move to San Fran to be with her, if the opportunity came up. It really took a few days of soul searching... essentially I'd be putting "the dream" back on hold again. I'd talked to a lot of people concerning this... seriously, do you give up a shot at a dream towards a shot at love. This girl was pretty awesome... the cocktail waitress ain't worth a million dollars, but maybe this girl was. I don't know though if it would even work out if she agreed to it. Sorry guys I didn't even consult y'all, the thp forum buddies, on this one. Either way, after a few days, I came to my senses and realized... hey I'm staying in VEgas... I'm going after the dream... I can still find the right girl later.
Since May 28th, I've been trying to get the online thing going... namely multitabling 8 tables all nl hold'em... 6 person max. I was able to handle four tables... the night I moved into 6 was a bit much. I think I'll be able to handle it soon though. So far I've put in 14 hours in the last 6 days and work a full time job as a casino dealer. I'm stuck a little bit, but it's not much, as you guys know I'm in a pretty sound financial situation. I'm just trying to get into the habit of multi-tabling again. I don't mind losing even a couple of hundred in the process.
I've had renewed faith though in pursuing the dream... I checked out Cole's blog, and well, this guy has already done about $900,000 this month alone at high stakes games at full tilt. If you don't know who he is, refer to my first entry. I think the goal really is to eventually get up to playing 25/50 nl shorthanded at 8 tables. Seems that you can make quite a bit of money at that according to him. It'll take a lot of work and heart though... you can't be sweating $200,000 dollar losses....
I've read starlight's post, and well... man, I gotta tell you... go after the dream. Well, I think you should have concern for your wife... I'm happy she's supportive. I've got no one in my own life pushing me like she might do for you. I think the trick for you and me is to systematically improve our game as we move up in stakes. You can't really want to grind out at 3/6 forever. That's just sick. I think you and I have to look to what Patrick Antonius meant when he said that it's not a game really worth playing everyday for a couple of hundred dollars a day. Even at $50K a year, I don't think I'd only want to be capable of earning that much... at $100K a year, well then I think we can consider a career change.
