$1000 JUNE 11TH THP FREEROLL
Why pass on this? This is a huge freeroll... $200 + for first place with a buy in of nothing? It has super positive ev. I'd like to play against regular posters, not newbies who disappear after a day or two.

partypoker expected ev
As far as limiting these tournies to only frequent posters or people who've been members for X days, here's why we won't do it...
1. I'm assuming that any online poker room that does this for us and puts up money expects to get some sort of return on their investment. If we have a freeroll that they've donated to, they're hoping that some new players will come, like it, and keep playing at their room, creating long-term revenue through rake and tournament fees and such. If we limited it only posters would've posted 1000+, then the poker room would just be donating money to the same 11 people (who probably play there already or won't switch from their favorite poker room). Even if it was 200+ posts, that's just 80 people, and isn't a very good investment, especially considering that rooms like Party are doing multiple tournaments. They don't want any restrictions on their tournaments at all, they want as many people as possible to come and try their software in the hopes that some will like it enough to stay.
2. I like getting new members to the forum. Our league and these tournaments are one way of getting new faces into the forum to add their special flavor of poker knowledge to our collective. Limiting the tournaments to just long-time posters or high-volume posters would probably decrease our overall new member signup rate.
3. If we are to keep our league statistics fair, we couldn't allow some league members to play league tournaments and earn points when other league members couldn't have a chance to play because they haven't been here long enough/made enough posts.
4. Tournaments that are limited to just high-volume posters would create even more incentive to pad your post count, my pet peeve/mortal enemy. I am against any measure that creates even more thought-provoking posts like...
or...
So there's my two cents. Feel free to argue about it. I love a good fight.

so do i actually have to make a deposit on party poker to play in this tounrnament or do i just have to have a money account? i am a little confused over this.
i currently only have a money account in the vc poker room (minimum deposit $20) and dont want to deposit in any others till i have built that up enough to do it. i only play on the real small stake tables at the moment you see.

You need a real money account to play. In order to get a real money account, you need to have deposited at some point in the past (or deposit $50 really soon). It doesn't matter if you have $3000 dollars or $0 dollars left in your account, you just need a real money account.

I signed up by following the instructions in the first post, and it says i am registered for the tourny... but what should i do on the day?
Do i just need to be logged into PartyPoker... maybe i have drunk too much beer, but im not sure how it will know im registered...
EDIT: OK i have read the 1st post properly now... ignore me... please!

Since we are now on BST time, it's 9pm our time
Even when we're in GMT London is always* +5 hours of EST
How many times do i have to tell you this Sid!**
*I think there is like a week's difference between UK clocks changing and USA clocks changing so there is like, 1 week where we're +6 and 1 week where we're ...... i dunno, something else?
**Please don't hurt me Sid

You don't need to be "approved" you just need to be a registered member of the site, the stuff about people who haven't made a post not being allowed in is just sour grapes from some people who weren't good enough to win the last one.
They would really get a shock is every single forum member showed up for one of these things!!
