Query: When I win, are the winnings taxable?

Gambling winnings are only taxable in the US, so if that's where you are, the answer is yes, if you're elsewhere the answer is no.

Of course, if you win you could just lose it all again playing something else and then they can't tax you

Just to clarify the tournament is listed under "Tournaments" then "Special". Make sure your "Show Registering" checkbox is unclicked, cuz the tournament is technically restricted. Also, as of right now, PartyPoker messed up and called the tournament "ITH Freeroll NL Hold'em" rather than "THP Freeroll NL Hold'em"
