2009 WSOP schedule announced
Here it the link to the CardPlayer event listing - http://www.cardplayer.com/tournaments/event_list/2582
Most notably, there is a $40K buy-in event to celebrate the 40th year of the WSOP and all four rebuy events from 2008 have been scrapped.
I will be playing in Event 39 starting on June 20th

I have no plans to attend this year, but it's always possible depending on my finances. I have another vacation planned this year, and unless I can realistically play in some of the better cash games, it just doesn't make sense to go all the way to Vegas.

I couldn't make last year cos I had no money. Im about 90% sure I am going this year, although Im not sure I ll be able to play a whole bunch of events. Maybe If I sat into some when i get there.
Some of those events look pretty fun though, like pot limit holdem/plo.

Hit up the single table satellites if you have a decent roll, but not enough to play the big events. From what I've heard and seen in previous years, they are ridiculously soft.

For those of you interested, they have released the structure for this year's WSOP. It's a huge improvmement over last years! The starting stacks have been increased to 3 times the buy-in (i.e., $1K buy-in, 3K starting stack) and the blind structure has been slightly decreased (for the $1K tournys the first level is now 25-25 and subsequent levels are lower than last year as well). All-in-all it will make for a much better tournament for those with some skill.

I didn't know about the chips/buy-in ratio thing, that is definitely an improvement. Means I should be able to grind my way through at least Day 1 of my event I would hope!
(Feel free to quote this in late June when I go out on the first hand I play

Which event are you playing in? I'm probably going to play in the Seniors (I barely qualify!!!) on June 22. I'm planning on being in Vegas from the 19th to the 27th.
Edit - I guess I should have read your first post! I see that you're playing in the NLHE $1500 event on June 20. Maybe I'll drop down, but I'm hoping to play in a Venetian deep stack on that day so maybe I won't.
