2011 WSOP?
Just got an email with odds on where the WSOP will be in a year...
...that seems a little wrong to me though. I guess I haven't been paying attention, are they really planning on moving it around? On the other hand, those tents at the Rio do indeed suck...
Where will the 2011 World Series of Poker (WSOP) be held?
Rio 4/5
Planet Hollywood 7/4
Ceasar's Palace 4/1
Other 20/1

Do you want a 'non american' opinion on this??????
Not for the first time in history, the yanks manage to have a tournament in which they use the word 'world' in the title and invite people from around the world to enter, and are therefore happy to make it a global event, yet never seem to want to hold it in any other country but the US.
My bet says it's held somewhere in the states!

I really don't like the Rio but the convention space it has is insane once you walk the 5 miles down that damn coridoor to get there.
I got lost (true story) in the bowels of the Venetian on my last trip to Vegas and I thought to myself then that the convention space they have down where nobody sees is possibly equally insane. My vote goes to the Venetian, after all, they run some of the best tourneys on the strip already.
Seriously though, Planet Hollywood? Ug.

I can't see it being anywhere else for what geno said. The convention space is just epic and it f*cking takes up a lot of room. Is Caesers even owned by Harrahs?
f*ck anywhere else tbh. Everywhere else I went was far too small for wsop unless they got some new hotels/casinos opening soon.

Since Harrah's owns such a wide swath of casinos in the US (Europe too I think?), I'm just waiting for the day they figure out how to make it like the NCAA/World Cup sort of thing.
Multiple day 1-ns around the planet (regionals), and when the field gets to a managable size, the remaining players convene at a site which rotates.
If it weren't for the security needs, they might start to use stadiums, like the Final Four. The last 3000 players meet in Lucas Oil/Metrodome/Rogers Centre/etc.
Speaking of soccer/football, I saw on the ESPN bottom line that some teams in the English league were "relegated" or some such. What's that do for them?

What do you mean? How are they relegated?golddog wrote:Speaking of soccer/football, I saw on the ESPN bottom line that some teams in the English league were "relegated" or some such. What's that do for them?
In the English football league there are 4 divisions. In order these are The Premier League, the Championship, League 1 and League 2.
Every year, every team plays every other team in their league both home and away. Every time they win a game they get 3 points, every time they draw they get 1 point. At the end of the season the top 2 teams get promoted and teams who finished 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th play in a 'play-off' scenario where the eventual winner also gets promoted.
At the bottom of the league the bottom 3 get relegated to a lower league.
A lower league = less money from the Football Associataion = less money to buy better players = lower standard of football = less sponsorship and crowds = less money etc etc etc.
Is that what you mean?

Sure is, thanks Jimmer. Makes sense, promote the best from the "lesser" league to the "better", and demote the other way, to keep competition at a higher level.
Maybe we over here could trade the Astros and Royals for AAA teams.
