2nd pair in position hand...
Ok, so this is shortly after rebuy, no huge thoughts on this guy... I will say I almost checked behind on river, but I really feel like I have to be good here, maybe AJ is possible, but I really felt like I should make a bet...The bet on river is really small, but it's a price whereby I give him chance to call with ANY pair imo, plus Ace high, and maybe give him a chance to re bluff..although, should I fold to re raise etc....
Oh yeh, I could c bet, and I probly will like 50/60% of time, but I like checking behind in these spots too, and on turn I'm obviously betting to protect my hand and for value.
Gimme your thoughts guys

Well a LP call suggests a hand that’s not strong enough for a re-raise but he likes his position and could have potential. Yes AJ is in the range but I wouldn’t be surprised if he turned over KJ here.
KJ fit’s the betting pattern and it looks very much like you’re being milked.
If he had 33 it was a loose call IMHO since you don’t have a deep enough stack to chase trips.

I think after the Turn call I’d be tempted to check this down most of the time.
He wasn’t willing to bet the Flop but makes a big call on the Turn? The only hand in his range that 4 could have realistically helped would be suited spades, which seems unlikely.
Coming back to the bet, you did say it was low and aiming for a call but how many worse hands will call here? I think a busted flush is doubtful even if he has an Ace, but a slow played hand which is possible, will come over the top.
However, one supporting factor is that you’re in a tourney which does necessitate making moves.

Villain actually had A-4d here, I still like my line kinda, cos I think my hand is strong enough to value bet for sure, and the 1/4 bet on river enduces some craziness too, which i feel I can take. Or maybe I'm just overplayin 2nd pair lol.

I think you check flops too often, why not to c-bet here? The flop suits your range well. Also, what's the point to bet 1/4 pot on the river risking to get raised? I would either bet at least 2/3 of the pot or check behind.

I'm not a huge fan of c betting, I still do it a hell of alot , but not 100% of the time. I can't go back to why at the time I didn't c bet, but im guessing its cos there are few turns that scare me if my hand is good, and I don't love getting check riased with 2nd pair here.
I guess my biggest reason is I have showdown value and can ascertain my opponents strength without c betting, and also just for pot control.
Valid point on the river, most people would check behind or value bet more. But like I have said a thousand times, I am not a robot. I felt like my opponent couldn't make a gutsy call for like 1/2 pot or 2/3 pot value bet, so I decided on 900 to get really thin calls, from ace high type hands and small pairs etc.
Poker is about getting the maximum value isn't it...
It was all in vein however since I'm beat neway, but again, I don't think I played the hand terribly, even though I'm beat this time, I don't hate my river call either tbh.
