3 beginner's questions

I just started a couple days ago and I am lost about a lot, first does a player have to use both hole cards at the showdown or can he/she use one card and 4 from the board?
Second, after the hole cards are dealt, and everyone wants to call, does the small blind player call by putting up the other half of the min. bet?
Third, is there a limit to how many times a person raises per round? For example the hole cards a dealt, player 1 raises $5, player 2 raises another $5, player 3 calls. Now back to player 1 can he re-raise another $10 thus he raised twice during the round.

1. Whatever cards make the best hard. Whether it is 2 in your hand 3 on the board, one in your hand 4 on the board, or sometimes the best hand is the 5 on the board. The goal is to make the best 5 card hand out of the 7 cards.

2. If the small blind wants to stay in he must match the big blind.

3. Usually most people play you can have 3 rounds of betting from what I have played and seen.

You play the best 5 card hand. So No you dont need to use both your hole cards infact you dont even need to use any. Small blind if they still want to be in the hand call to the big blind. I think the limit on rasies is 4. So a bet raise and reraise, reraise.

Edit. You beat me to it...lol But most games i think are four rounds of betting. Such as 5/10 Player leads out and bets 5 The total amount of rasies would max out at 20.

Yes, if both players use the entire board for their hands, then it's a split pot.

Yera, it's a little tricky at first. The best thing to do when
it is not obvious who wins is to lay your cards in front of
you on the table. Look at each persons hand combined
with the table cards. See who can make the best 5 of 7
hand with their cards. If two or more people have the
exact same valued hand, yeah it splits. Have a very good
understanding of this before you play any serious games.
It can cause arguements and delays. Be very clear that
whoever can make the best hand with theirs and the tables
wins. That's really the whole value concept, thus the basis
of hold'em. So have a very clear understanding of this.
