Just a quick note: You can't have both codes, so you either get 10% off, or free shipping. And the free shipping only works for $99 and higher-valued orders. So for me, when I pick up a few extra chips, there's not much of a choice...

Ship works, travel has expired though... and my order is around $75 subtotal (500 9 gram set+a few extra chips (slum case)) so i guess ill just use the 10%... unless someone thinks theres something else thats essiential to home games,
Actually, when i went to check out, it gave me no shipping options (it was the credit card/shipping page... i didnt actualy finalize my order).... Hmmm
Thanks,

IMHO I would buy the 1000 chip set, comes with racks not a case, but a dealer button and 2 decks. same chips for $100.
75 plus 8 to 10 for shipping, you get double your chips for 20 bucks more.
I have bought 2 sets of these so far making 2500 chips in my collection. storage is a little problem but i have a china cabinet in my dining room and the wife is nice enough to let me use one side of the bottom cupboards.
with the SHIP code you get 1000 chips 10 acrylic racks 1 dealer button and 2 decks of cards for $100 straight up. I am not a shill for them just a satisfied customer.

My experience is that if you want to organize your own tourneys--and this is the fastest, cheapest way to see lots of hold'em, not put a lot of money at risk, and dramatically improve your game--you DO need at least 4 colors. I would recommend 5, with, say, 50 purple, and another 100 yellow or gold (500 and 100/200 denoms).

Well, right now, these games are H.S. sophmores and seniors... buy in from $10-20 usually, w/ a 50 cent-1 dollar big blind. Sometimes we play toureny sometimes not... Last Sat. we had 9 people i think, and some bought in as much as $40 (only 3 of us made money that game, me my bro and his friend :D )... We had to play equal balue w/ shit chips and didnt have enough really... When someone brought 300 11.5g chips, we did .25 .50 and $1 denom's for 10 people and ran out nearly immediatly... Anyway enough rambling... Im not so sure we would need 5 colors though, please, if you would, enlighten me on the use for the last 2 colors.... Also, do you think we would need 1000 chips, or would 500 suffice?
Thanks again,
~ib09
P.S. we dont like havin the guy w/ the 11.5's come, as he cheats rather often.... Also another friend has 300 chips, though, like i said thats usually not enough, and he probably wont be attending all the games...

500 would suffice, but most of the 500 sets are 60 or 70 plus shipping, may as well get double the chips and free shipping for 30 more. I use the last 2 colors for tourneys we have a blind structure that gets the blinds up pretty high and the 500 dollar chips just get rid of some of the lower denomination chips. This has worked well for us, may not work for you guys, but your games will only get bigger, and you may find yourself buying more chips in the future. just my $.02

The last TWO colors are the purple and black--only REALLY needed for tournaments. This advice is based on a 10-man game. I believe in planning for the game I WANT!
If you're mostly playing ring (non-tournament...keep what you get and quit when you like) poker then 3 colors are fine....but you should try to have 800 to 1000 chips. It's really nice to start a game with 70-100 chips in front of you, for one thing--but if the table's small, that CAN be too many.
(I own about 25 of the casino 100 chips racks, and that helps keep things neat.)
If it's hold'em poker...try this:
you need some whites (avoid chips with denominations printed on them...handcuffs your game over the long haul)...but not too many...for small blinds. Say you have a $.50-1.00 game. The only bet at $.25 cents is the small blind. About 5-10 white chips/player is plenty. That's 50 to 100 whites.
The bulk of your bets are for the amount of the low limit...or twice that. So you need about 500 to 600 of your next color....usually red. For a .50 -1.00 game the buy-in SHOULD be about $35-$50 each...
So you have 50 reds/player and another 100 held back for rebuys--that's $25. Now you complete the buy-in with a green chip worth $1.00 or 2.00--another 300 or 200 greens are fine here. That's about 900 or 1000 in three colors. I'd do 900 (100 white or blue, 600 red, and 200 green) and buy 50 black and 50 purple. These last two colors can cover a multitude of problems by valuing them $5 and $10 or $3 and $6 ...and you'll never run out of chips--but the house may have to buy some occasionally from the chip leader for the purple or black. If you buy an extra 200 green you'll never have that problem...but chip cases just won't hold 1200 chips.
