How have some of you reported that you got more chips than you purchased? When i got my order, the chips came in plastic covered sleeves (like heavy shrink-wrap).

Those of you who got some over-count;
Did you buy a weird number of chip denominations? The only reason i can think that they over-count is if they actually have to COUNT.

I bought 300.

100 white
100 red
50 green
50 black

So it may have been easy to count when they just have to grab a few 'pre-wrapped' sleeves.

Did anyone else get their chips in plastic wrap?

Mine came in plastic too but both of the red sleeves had one extra chip in each one. Plus the case that came with then had an extra chip that didn't even match the rest. Oh well, that's 302 matched and one lucky chip in my pocket.

Ahh... i see.
as i said before, i had a separate chip too (red non-matching). But one thing i did not do was count the sleves to make sure there were 50 in each...

And here I am talking about chip count in orders purchased online???

Guys, it's CHINA...they're flying out of the oven faster than they can count them. 50 and wrap 'em! Keep those chips moving!! They probably don't count them; they weigh them or measure them...it's like Bill Gates' money--there's so much he can't be bothered to count it.

As for Volvo,,,man I loved that 144/2 and 262/4 series. Owned 'em and loved to drive them. Seemed like I had to fix them more than I should have, but still have a thing for them. Fabulous cars. But I'll pass on the 68. You want a antique collector.

Hey Schrek, got mine the same way, same number too. Actually I never counted them so I wouldn't know if I'm short or over...guess I should do that. Hey, is the 300 all you have? If so, how do you distribute them? I'm trying to get a game together, and until I can get a few under my belt I can't afford to buy any more (donations). Probably 5-8 people. Any ideas??

I basically distribute 90% of all the chips evenly depending on how many people are playing. I only have about 4-6 players. I don't know how it would work out with 10 players playing. (My kitchen table would be too small for that).

I'll do a count before tonights matchup (poker night at my place tonight).

yeah. 300 is all i have so far - and with 6 players it sort of feels slim to start... We'll play tourney's though - so the games go quick as the blinds raise each 7 hands. I think i should have more chips, but for now the cheapsters that play at my place will have to live with what i have -> Since they're not breaking their backs to help with the cost.

Great little set thought don't you think? :D

Yeah it is a nice set. My Brother-in-Law bought it for me for Christmas and he got me the "suited" ones. I would love to go for that Texas Hold 'em tournament set, but then my chips won't match  . Stupid thing to worry about, but I guess I'm anal  .

Let me know how you distribute the chips (how many of each color per player) if you wouldn't mind. And good luck with those chips coming back to you tonight!

Hey jwRussell,
We had 6 people and it was split like this:

8 x $100 chip (black)
8 x $25 chip (green)
16 x $5 chip (red)
16 x $1 chip (white)
(everybody starts with just under $1100)

This left the bank with only a few chips left. If one person got low on something they needed, I moderated some chip swapping. (ie: allow to players to exchange a bigger chip for smaller ones)

And we started the blinds at
small $2
big $5

It seemed to go well. Soon enough the whites become quite useless though. I might think of a different way to do it next time to make the whites a bit more usefull. Possibly:

whites are $10 so we have

8x 100
8x 25
16x 10
16x 5
(in this case we'd all start with 1240)
to start.

Shrek,

Thanks, that looks pretty good. I'll try that when we get the game together. Right now I'm trying to get someone in the group to host the stupid thing as I live in a tiny apartment. All those chips sitting there getting bored!

I'll let you know how it goes. How often did you raise the blinds?

I've ordered with 5star before on ebay...got the 1000 and trip trays for $80 with 27 shipping. i got em in less than a week!!!! unfortunatley they are no longer on ebay and by the looks of it you can only go through the website. that isnt bad since the average price for this on ebay was well over $120. if you go to their site, they sell 9g chips for .10 each, but right now their out of white.

I think it was worth it. I like them a lot. I would have preferred 'real' chips or better yet, custom black chips with colored edge marks to denote denomination, but those are so expensive. You won't find a better set for $200 nor will you find another similar set for anywhere near that price.

Unless you want to spend $500+ on better chips this is IMO the best set you can get.

Of course it has it's drawbacks. There is no case of course, but in my case that didn't matter because I have a duffle bag that fits 5 trays across EXACTLY (as if it was made for it, it's PERFECT). I also have been planning my own custom table and case.

If you don't care about edge marks though I'd probably go for the $100 set which is exactly the same but has 9g super diamond chips instead of the 11.5g striped dice chips. I haven't used them myself but most people seem to think they are great for home games yet still affordable. The only drawback is that they don't have edge marks and aren't quite as fancy but if you don't care about that then why spend the extra $100?

I plan on taking a picture of my set and some of the other stuff I got tomorrow, so in the next few days maybe I will be able to post some detailed pics.

I bought the 11.5g diamond set back in october. The first time my group got together, they never even knew that these chips were available. 5stardeal was very quick in shipping my order, seems like now that poker has really taken off, they are having a hard time keeping stock in supply.

Now I'm looking into buying a hold 'em table. Pokeroutlet.com isn't taking any more orders until the middle of march. They claim that it's because they are so busy. I wonder.

So it looks like pokerproducts.com is my next choice. Huge selection of tables there. Looks like a decent site to buy from. This forum is great, and I hope to add and help the weekend poker groups.

Those places both seem expensive. The first one seemed expensive for almost everything. The second site seemed very expensive for some stuff but decent prices for other things. I mean they sell that basic 2-in-1 green table top thing for $180, not including case (which is $25 extra). That's crazy, you can get the top and case for $60 from a lot of places.

I'd look around more. I don't have any links right now but I've seen sites with MUCH better prices.
