A-10 oop post flop

Postby Ciso_B » Wed Oct 21, 2009 2:14 am GMT

Villain hadn't shown down any weak hands or bluffs, seemed capable of flatting strong hands pre flop.I contemplated betting 1,200 or so on river, cos he didn't seem "good" enough to raise blocker bets on river without doing it for value with monsters, so i could get showdown cheaper if he had the AJ/AQ type hand.
How's my line ? Bet more on flop? Bet turn ? Blocker bet river? Call river? On the river I just saw this bet totally for value on his part. So I couldn't find a call.

Seems fine to me against a standard type of player. You can consider betting the turn and folding to a raise, but I think checking to induce bluffs (I assume that's what you're doing) is a reasonable line as well. Check/folding to a relatively strong bet on the river with what has become a bluff catcher is the best line there. I assume we're calling a lot of smaller bets on non-diamond rivers, yes?

interesting variation eldar.

He said AJ after which is about what i thought, but then he said "ok ok, 67".. I think the AJ is more likely. People are greedy with hands like 67 on river here.

If it was the AJ, maybe the re raise gets through on the river. Or I can just fold since people dont like folding top pair in his spot. But , like the creativity !

Flush got there and he could well have AJ/AQ and wanted to see a flop before committing chips. I think you can just save the 2k extra chips here and fight another day.

I like deldars line, but the only problem I find is if this is some $10 or $20 tourney which I assume it is then I think you find players are not so keen to muck their top pair hands enough to make it profitable to shove.

You know I'm new to this whole 'tourney' thing, so I could be completely barking up the wrong tree here, but aren't too many of you over estimating the value of this hand?

Before we even consider the value of our hand surely we need to evaluate what we know about the villian?
1. We know he hasn't shown down any weak hands
2. We also know he doesn't seem to bluff.

Add this information to the fact that he only makes a half-pot bet on the river (after we check), I find it hard to believe we have anywhere near the best hand.

Surely folding is the better option here?
