A - 5 straight vs 2 - 6 straight?
I thought I read some where that a "wheel" or A to 5 straight was a very good straight because you win a high and low straight vs anyone elses straight of 2-6 or even K-9 straight. The Ace being the highest card and also plays as a 1. Now maybe when I read this I was half asleep or I misunderstand what I was reading. But being a rookie poker player, can someone tell me which won is the winning hand?

Player 1 holds A,5. Other player(s) holds 2,3 or 3,4 or 2,2 or even 5,5.
And I guess some would call 5,5 depending on position but - Your saying most players fold holding those cards due to the low valued cards? While A,5 player calls or bets because of the Ace expecting an Ace to flop?

Well, you would play A 5 depending on what position you were in. If you're in early position, A 5 is not good to play but if you're late and there are no big bets to you, then why not. As far as the other hands you mentioned, I was just saying most people will fold two low cards, especially unsuited ones. This isn't a rule of thumb, it's just always nice holding A 5 when the board has all low cards. If you make your straight most people holding high cards, maybe even top pair, don't always put you on a straight

wada, what you read I believe refers to when you play high low games because you can go "pig" with A-5. It's the lowest hand when it doesn't count as a straight, but it's also the lowest straight, but if you believe the high hand is 3 of a kind for whatever reason, you could win the whole pot.

Ok, I just think this, so don't quote me, 80% sure.
In Omaha HL, I think A-5 is wheel, cause it takes
the high and low pot, unless someone else has a
higher straight, then it almost definately takes the
low pot...unless it splits w/ someone else having
A-5 straight. I think that is a HL gametype term
meaning if straight is the best hand, it gets the
entire pot.
