A question of Kicker
If I am in a standard Texas Hold'em game and play in a hand until the end with one more player and we both share the same card to make a pair, can a community card be used as kicker, thus making the pot split(Because we both share that community card). (Example a community ace) Please I am new to the game and do not want to get suckered in to losing won or split pots.Thank you

Not only can a community card be used for a kicker but it MUST be used. The ace being the high card on the board would be used by both players. Not knowing the other cards on the board and in your hands I can't say how it would go but you use the best five cards of all seven you have in front of you. You can find a lot of answers to questions using the search function on this forum.

To clarify, the board kicker does not decide the hand. You then need to go to the 4th and perhaps the 5th card in hand to determine a winner.
Remember this though, say you have A3 and someone else has AQ. The flop comes A 4 4. If a K comes on the turn or the river, then both players have 2 pair and a K kicker. So if you have the top pair w/ a board pair out there, any high card on the board will negate a weak kicker in your hand. I wouldnt recommend playing a lot of A 3s, expect suited ones.
