ace high flush

Postby remo974 » Sun Aug 01, 2010 1:15 am GMT

can someone tell me the rule when the five cards flopped are all hearts, and the highest card was the ace of hearts is it deemed to be a split pot even if one player has a heart in his hand and the other player has none.

thanks remo974

It can only be a split if the heart in the player's hand is lower than all five of the board cards. Example:

Player 1: [As] [Ac]
Player 2: [2h] [2d]

Board: [Kh] [Qh] [9h] [7h] [3h]

This would be a split because the [2h] in Player 2's hand is lower than all five board cards so both players have the flush showing.

If either player was holding any other heart, they would win the pot because it would be higher than the [2h] on board. Example:

Player 1: [As] [Ac]
Player 2: [8h] [2d]

Board: [Kh] [Qh] [9h] [7h] [3h]

Player 1 is still playing the board, Player 2 is now playing [Kh] [Qh] [9h] [8h] [7h] which is a better flush.
