Advice on Party Poker

Postby iloveholdem » Thu Feb 19, 2004 12:06 am GMT

I have a $50 bankroll and basically I want to be able to gain some cash. I find myself to be intemedaite type player, not too good but not too easy.

I think I do better at Tournament's though I hear that tables are naturally better to gain a good roll in.

Anyone can help me what I should do? Maybe a plan? ( that is except to loose my money.. heh... )

I'd say start off at the .50/1 or 1/2 tables. Another thing you could do is 5+1 tourneys... or even the 10 + 1 tourneys. 10 + 1 is a better deal though. If you're good, you should "win" about 1 in 5. My friend started playing about 3 months ago and parlayed 100 into 900 dollars within a months time. I think he deposited once for about 100 dollars, busted on that. Then, he deposited a second 100 dollars and hasn't looked back since. Problem is that he also played a single table 50 + ?. And he won that. So, let's just say he takes chances. :D

It all depends on how confident you are in the game and how much money you're willing to risk. When I first started playing hold em online, I started in low limit (.50/$1 & $1/$2). I wasn't very familiar with the game at that time having only played a few times at the beach with friends. When I gained more confidence and knew more about the game I moved to NL. That's mostly what I play now with the occasional sit & go to change things up a bit.
There are a lot of fish on PP and I've found it's very difficult to bet someone out of a pot in limit games. This means that any fish with a 23s will probably call and may end up drawing out on you. In NL it's much easier to take the pot or get those that are on a long-shot draw out of the pot because you can bet more.
Just my humble opinion though.
