AKs on Button vs aggro MP

Postby LeeG » Mon May 12, 2008 7:39 pm GMT

NL100 - I've been at table 2 orbits and not played a hand. No real read on villain except that he has done a lot of limping.

MP min raises to $2. 4 callers. I have A :club: K :club: and raise to $12. MP3 and CO call.

Flop J :club: T  3

MP3 bets $2 (into $42 pot). CO folds, I raise to $20. MP3 flat calls takes time, and flat calls.

Turn 8 :club:

Villain bets $5

Hero and villain both started with $100.

Action to Hero?

Well, he is probably blocking, but he has called down so far, so you probably don't have a lot of fold equity, and getting reraised here would suck.

Call and be glad he gave you a cheap shot at a huge draw. I can't imagine a worse way for your opponent to play the hand pretty much regardless of what he has.

Hard to know if villain has a strait flush draw or top pair, could be A9h AQh KQ, with this much money in the pot we are going to find out. The question is do we raise or call. I don’t think he’s going away to any other raise except maybe all-in, I see players slow play made hands this way a lot but it doesn’t make sense with the draws out there, I have to rule trips or an over pair out, I opt for the cheep card and call, fold to any real action on the river if you don’t hit.

It's so fishy, but if you raise and villain calls/raises, you are never ahead of them. Take the awesomely cheap draw.

I should have taken the cheap draw, but I figured villain for a draw and pushed. Villain tanked a few seconds and called showing J  5  - a better hand than I expected, but I nailed a K :spade: on the river and took it down.
