All-in

Postby feelwell » Thu Mar 05, 2009 2:19 am GMT

I was playing poker with my friends recently. I was holding Ace, 5. I see the flop, one Ace. After the river and the turn, I'm sitting pretty with 3 As. So I go all in. the other guy calls. The show is: he has 3 As too, but with an 10 kicker. My question is, when one guy is all-in and you both have the same high card, does the kicker come into play at all? I thought it was a split pot, but I may be wrong. Please help end this dispute.

Best 5 cards count, so if his 10 plays, then yes, he wins.

Board: AA987
You: A5
Him: A-10
Winner: Him (A-A-10-9-8)

Board: AAKQ2
You: A5
Him: A-10
Winner: Split pot (you both play A-A-A-K-Q)

Just to mention, it doesn't matter at all, are you all in or not.
