Alleged subterfuge on UB

Postby K-rug » Thu Sep 18, 2008 11:18 pm GMT

The alleged subterfuge on UltimateBet.com — one of the 10 top poker sites — is the biggest known case of fraud targeting an Internet gambling site and its customers, according to the company that owns the site.

Sort of part two of the AP scandal that hit last year. Sad thing is it took players to figure everything out. Not the software or the poker sites.

If this has been posted elsewhere forgive me. I did a quick search on the forums and didn't see it linked. But it is a very detailed and well written article so figured I would link it.

Yeah, UB/AP/Cereus are all the same shady management and no one should do business with them.

On FTP a lot of stuff happens when these guys come in with minimum buy in, double up and leave. You immediately look for them and they're gone.
They never speak and rarely from US. I know it's paranoia but think. 1000 bots or illegal software players doubling up at all levels every hour. Big bucks.

I can't tell if he did or not...

In any case, I am getting damn sick of people complaining about short-stacking. If you don't like the fact that people can short stack, do one of four things:

1. Switch to tournaments.
2. Switch to live play.
3. Switch to limit.
4. Go complain to whatever site you play at to add more deep tables so you can play with all the good players and see all of your win rates take a hit.

Wait until you hit $200NL and higher and play with the "professional" short stackers.
Those guys know how to play good short stack game and do disturb the normal game flow...

Notice I don't necessary complain, I have adjusted well enough to playing vs those short stacker, its just that it makes poker slightly boring.

i disagree with that Darling. even at 600NL the shorties are still total braindead retards who have no clue. i think the "pro shortstackers" dont exist until 5/10. at least on my site

Well, you managed to find a site where the regs sux...

Not all short stackers are pro on FT, but from $200NL you start to see them.
I really have no problems at all playing against SS who limped/call then check/fold UI. or check/push AI with any part of the flop.
The "decent" SS who play push/fold PF are the one that make the game difficult. Even if their PF range is bad, you still need to think about every hand you open if they are still to act. You can't 3B lite as often and you really have to tighten up from the BTN if they are on your blinds.

tournaments IS shortstacking

thankfully the sites are making steps towards fixing the problem

I have no idea why my winrate would take a hit tho???

Calm down.
I was not complaining. I was just speculating that as soon as they double up they disappear. I don't mind playing them. You pretty much know what they have.

I wasn't accusing anyone on THIS forum of complaining about short-stacking.

Wait until you hit $200NL and higher and play with the "professional" short stackers.

That's the inherent advantage of being a short stack. The only way to prevent that is to force people to buy in for more. It sucks to have to play short effective stacks, but it really isn't as big a deal for most people as it could be. 2+2 idiots are just upset because they can't 3-bet 76s out of position. Poor them.
