Almost made it - thanks for the advice
Hey All:
First, I wanted to thank you all for responding to my earlier post. I played in the final UB Aruba Satellite last night! As requested, wanted to let you all know what happened. The top 2 places were paying out the Aruba Trip. And I finished. . . In THIRD
place! Dadgummit. So close. . . yet so far.
I was on my A game all night and made it to the final 3 with only 2 - 4 Thousand TC difference between me and the leader. Then I made a rookie mistake and bet into a full house with trips!!! %#@#!$@$
Ah well, at least I won $1400.00. - YEA Right that is no consolation! and now I'm here at work with 1 hr sleep to top it all off. Maybe next time. Thanks again for the advice.

I played in that Super. I had just finished 6th out of 1289 on Stars and I was still feeling good.
I got knocked out on my FIRST hand in the Aruba Super. I didn't rebuy. I overplayed the two pair I flopped. Actually, the guy that won overplayed his pocket 3's that made his straight on the river.
I am still bitter. Oh well, I am going to make a real effort next year and play a lot of satellites for Aruba. The cool thing is that you can buy into satellites ($11, $13 buy-ins, etc) with Ultimate points.
This was the first time since I started playing poker that I was the FIRST person out of a tourney.
Oh well, back to the grindstone,
TT

Hey Tony:
I was at that table with you! I'm sorry to tell you that I was the guy that knocked you and the other dude out on the same hand althought the other guy did rebuy! Also sorry to say that I flopped the straight(didn't river it - I would never go all in on a baby straight on the river, well never say never) and checked it and the two of you went into a betting frenzy so I had no choice but to go all in as I clearly had you both beat.
Anyway, if it makes you feel any better I took the other guys rebuy chips a couple of hands later! also you were the first 2 of about 30 people that I took out ofthe tourney. I was playing well and getting decent cards up until the final table too.
The level of play at the final table was phenomenal!!!!
we were only seeing the flop every 5 or 6 hands because everyone was so aggressive. 5K and 10K raises and reraises were common preflop. we knocked out the first 6 players from the final table in about 15 minutes. when the blinds are 1500 - 3000 you have to be aggressive or be eaten alive!! Unfortunately I was eventually the prey instead of the predator. Overall it was a great experience and I will certainly do it again next year!
Sorry again Tony!

Gee, I hope the other people I knocked out don't come looking for me here as well

Tralfaz, u sound like a shit hot player. I hope we can see u in future freerolls organised here at THP.com so we can benchmark our play against urs
Bad luck on Aruba, $1,400 is not bad tho tbh now is it?
I'd take it to Vegas if u r anywhere near it or if not a high stakes table at UB and try to get it up to at least $10,000. When u get to that, chuck it in a high interest bank account and sit back and wait for the next WSOP and use it to buy in and try to live the dream!

I don't know about "Shit Hot" but I am pretty decent although still learning some things. I will try to keep track of the future freerolls and give them a shot. (I've only played in one "live" Tourney and I finished 4th)
I have found that people tend to be too aggressive in NL tournement play. They will go all in at the drop of a hat thinking that they can snag the pot. I try to identify players like this and then wait for my moment to isolate them!! You usually get a chance eventually
Anyway, I look forward to chatting, and playing with, all of you again soon.

I THOUGHT THAT WAS YOU!!!
You had a pair of 3's so you couldn't have flopped the straight. I am pretty sure you made your hand on the river (it could have been the turn. . . .who knows).
Anyhow, I am glad that you did well. Too bad you didn't get to Aruba!! That sucks. . . .I can't imagine the feeling.
I will catch you at the tables, bud.
Good luck,
TT

Tony:
You are RIGHT! In thinking about it I did have pocket 3's. I checked on the flop, and hit the straight on the turn! Then either you or the other guy went all in and I called with the straight.
Anyway, you probably made the correct call considering you had two pair and the probablilty of someone having a straight at that point was pretty low. (although I did notice that people at UB seem to play any rags so you never can tell).
I'm sure that I'll see you again at UB or PS (or hopefully at a professional event!!!
) Until then give em hell at the table!!!
