Am I folding TOO much? (Low Limit)
Hi Everyone,
I'm new to Texas Hold'em and I picked up "Winning Low Limit Hold'em" by Lee Jones on several recommendations. I've been following his advice on starting hands and play after the flop, etc., but I just don't seem to come out ahead. I probably fold 9/10 hands before seeing the flop (I'm following Lee's starting hand requirements) and even though I'll win a small pot or two, it is rarely enough to keep up with what I'm paying on the blinds.
Now, I am paying micro limit (5/10 cent bets) with real money at poker stars...is that part of the problem? I was playing with fake chips, but I thought that perhaps I could get a slightly more realistic game by playing with real, albeit small amounts of cash. If the amount of money I'm playing for shouldn't matter too much, is it possible that the starting hands that Lee outlines in his book are too strict? Also, I am going by what happens long term...I'm not basing all of this on individual sessions.
Thanks in advance,
Bill

Welcome to the forum Bill.
There is no definate answer to this question. The best thing to do is start posting your hands. From this we can then give you some feedback on where you are going wrong etc.
Also, there have been a few other newbies joining this forum recently, so have a look for the sort of things they are asking as the answers will improve your game as well.
As for the fake or play money, if you want to improve your game, you are better playing with real money. If you want a cheaper game than the $0.05-$0.10 tables, Pokerstars have $0.01-$0.02 cash tables. The differance in standards is very minimal, it's just easier on your bankroll! What site are you signed up to at the mo?
