and idea to bring THP into a new market

Postby Ensano » Tue Apr 08, 2008 8:48 pm GMT

just a thought... how hard would it be to turn THP into one of those coaching sites?

we have a lot of experienced players that would be able to put together a respectable library of videos to be listed on the internet...

to differenciate THP from the countless other we could maybe do something where users pay per video d/l instead of a set monthly fee...

users who get their videos d/led get a royalty for everytime their video is paid for...

this way it would support and compensate the better videos and coaches....

just a thought...

Problem is, no one on this site really has "credentials" in the online Poker world.

QFT

Yea it’d be like if we wrote a poker book then sold it through Amazon via an on-demand publisher. No one would buy it, even if we spammed a load of forums to promote it.

We’d just look like an asshat.

…duno why I thought of that example.

true... but really from a technical standpoint how hard would it be to set it up?... get a couple videos?

i think the effort invested would be minimal compared to the potential revenue it could bring...

even if our players aren't known the site does generate enough new traffic and even it only a few of the videos are sold it would quickly be a +EV operation...

We could get everyone to cover the area that is their strength-
Maybe-
URAU on calculating EV
Pav on bankroll management
Odzolik (sp?) on high stakes NL
Starlight on setting realistic goals
Raisbot on playing Tight and starting hand requirements
etc...

Who else am I missing?

Serious Response:

There are already 3 large video sites that don't really charge a ton for their services. They are known and trusted on 2+2, which probably garners 90% of poker forum traffic on the internet. The guys who make videos for these companies have cult followings. I just don't see how it would pan out.
