Are there other games besides poker?

Postby Adamm » Thu Jan 29, 2004 8:04 pm GMT

Thought I'd give this "Non-poker chat" a little kick since I haven't posted here yet.
Does anyone out there play anything else gamewise? I'm not only a poker fanatic, but a chess freak, a german-style game dork, a rpg fan, and if there was a Dr. Mario world championship, I think I'd win it.
Anyone out there play any german-style games like Settlers of Catan or Carcassonne?
How about some "Final Fantasy Tactics"? Better....Space Hulk. Oh yeah.
How do ya feel about the Nimzo Indian? Better to try and control the center?
And if anyone knows what "Bunnies and Burrows" is, I'll let you marry my sister. :)

Yeah, I have beaten FFT, it's a pretty nice game. I just play all kind of games in general, video games I mean of course. I used to play chess in school and rarely I do at home, it's a game that requires some psychology similar to poker so it DOES interest me.

Pool (Billiards), tournament walleye (similar to Zander for our European friends) fishing.

I uses to love video games, dont have much time for it any more. Although when my kids get older I think that I will get back in to it.

At uni I played a lot of foosball (table football) to a pretty high standard. I beat one of the UK's top players 10-3 in a tourney game once, 2 of which were own goals by me :P

My biggest love in life since leaving uni (and sadly not playing poker any more really) is riding flatland BMX. I only started 4 months ago at the ripe old age of 22 but now it's all I think about when I'm not riding! I may be 'old' but you are as old as you feel and I'm not giving up my fun for anyone!

I'm also a MASSIVE Counting Crows fan and one of the biggest bootleg traders in the UK (it's legal). I'm going to see them in London on Feb 23rd and I can't wait 8)

When it's time for a night off from poker it usually turns into Blackjack night. Either my roommates and I play the house for fun or when the feeling's right I act as house and play the others for real money. If it's time to actually get out for some fresh air, I play a good bit of disc-golf.

There are games other than poker???? Just kidding. I think
As far as video games go, I like to conquer the world (Age of the Empires, Risk, Civilization, etc.) mostly. Outside it really depends on the weather. If it's nice I enjoy golfing, fishing, swimming and disc golf occassionally. Everything else varies dependant upon how much beer is available. :P
I also love to bet on the ponies, but only at live races. Do you think maybe I have a gambling problem?
Oh yeah, I kind of work full time too. That can be a game on occasion.

Poker's gotten most of my attention recently, but I've been playing tons of Carcassonne (Rio Grande Games) over lunches here at the office with some of my co-workers, as well as PS2 and Xbox games. My wife and I love cooperative multiplayer stuff, like Baldur's Gate: Dark Alliance (1 and 2).

Oh, and Knarly Works for PC; a great little puzzle game.

As you might guess by my name...I love Hockey!
I play year round in a men's league and have participated in a few regional tourneys as well. I play both ice and inline. Love to watch NHL GAMES...I get to see Sabres and Maple Leafs games mostly because of where I live (Western New York).
I play in a Fantasy Football league with the same guys every year get obsessed with it too. just ask my wife. That's American Football, not European, but that must be obvious. Could you have a fantasy Soccer/Footbal league with such low scoring anyway? Hmmm.
I do play console vid games when I have the time. Wife got me a PS2 for Xmas... i feel like (and act like) a big kid.

I like videogames amd Counter-Strike is fun but I got addicted and quit. I'm currently into old-school Super NES games, and Ninja Gaiden. (Excellent). I also like Snowboarding, Basketball and golf. My favorite TV show (and the only one I watch regularly) is Saturday Night Live, although the new ones don't compare to the old (Will Ferrel and Chris Kattan, before that Dana Carvey, Mike Meyers, Chris Farley, Adam Sandler).

Oh, yeah, and

   WAYNE'S WORLD!!!! EXCELLENT!!!!
