Aussie Millions 2007

Postby MrDarling » Wed Sep 05, 2007 5:14 am GMT

Just finished watching it on pokertube.
Cool show as the broadcast much more then just the final table.

If you haven't seen it, and do not want to know the results, stop reading now.

Seriously, stop reading, I'm going to talk about who won and what not.

Anyway; that Jimmy Freaky really shows that you need a lot of luck to make it to final table. Don't get e wrong, I think the kid can actually play and have made some great moves while he was the big stack. But to get to be big stack the guy sucked out 100's of times.
Almost every time all the money went in he was a big dog; and every time he pulled ahead.

Now I loved the HU match. Was really cool to see the kid crumbles under Gus style, especially after claiming that he figures Gus out and is not intimidated by him.
Was cool how Gus took the lead in 3-4 hands and almost bust him quickly, getting all the money in as 70% favorite.

I really enjoyed Gus style during this broadcast and seen him make really few mistakes if at all.

Is Gus back?

He was overall arrogent. Did you hear how he spoke about Gus prior to the HU?
"I figured Gus..." and all that crap. Gus?! One of the most feared poker player around?

Lol, I really enjoyed how Freaky played the HU like a real noob. Making mistake after mistake.

Jimmy "gobboboy" Fricke is notoriously arrogant, but he has the online tourney results to back it up. But read any of his posts on 2+2 and it quickly becomes clear how much disdain he seems to have for live tournament players who "aren't that good."

Still though, I think the editing of the show made him look and come off much worse than he actually is. The way they selected the hands and added the commentary was almost slanderous.

Screw that guy, I swear they modelled Steve's friend off American Dad on him

I could not be more glad that Gus bested him in the end. After dominating 3-handed, he was a total girl HU and played horribly.

Meh, given Gus's style, I think it looked a lot worse than it actually was, no doubt colored by Konik's moronic comments. Truth is, Gus pretty much got hit with the deck HU. Not that he didn't play excellently, but when you're catching cards, it's hard to do much wrong.

Yes, as I said. He is a damn good online tourney player who makes incredibly arrogant-sounding posts on 2+2 about how much live tourney pros allegedly suck. I'm not doubting his talent; he's clearly a boss MTT player, hence what I said about TV making him look worse than he actually is.

If I was gobboboy I'd probably be pretty pissed at the way the show was edited.

Regardless of his skills live or online, he's a fat sweaty virgin with a chip on his shoulder and he doesn't make for good TV viewing.

Am not sure about that. Every good TV shows need a villain. Someone everyone hates and hope will fail, or been brought down by Hero.

If I didn't know better, I'd say this end game was written especially for TV.

If it didn't make for good viewing, they probably wouldn't have editted it to sound as bad as it did (as it's obviously heating some of you up, AND making you talk about the show.... which er... might mean it's good viewing on their part)

Gobboboy is a ridiculously good mtt player. His accusations about live players may not be that far off.

i watched this, he seems like a little prick who could do with a good kicking.

kirsty gazes seems to think she can actually play when all she did in aussi millions was act really fast every time and played her cards pretty normally.

I was rooting for andy black, he made a couple of mistakes 3 handed but generally couldnt didnt get any workable situations at all. he seems like a really good chap, i especially liked when he spoke about his blow ups as its somethign i totally identify with .. when he said he doesnt know where it comes from and after its gone he is like "what just happened?" then u see him going "shall i give the fans what they want?!" funny guy.

Im glad gus beat the gobboboy heads up . the kid can certainly play but he is very disrespectful and up his own ass. and very fking lucky.... i cant imagine how hard it must be for sum1 with those outdrawing abilities to win large amounts of money in online mtts. Prolly better than trying to get your chips in with any kind of edge.

i think he played pretty well 3 handed.

and the 'suckouts' he made, i remember the situations were all pretty standard. one time he had set over set, whatya gonna do?
then he was allin preflop with TT vs a shorty with something better, then AQ vs a shorty who had AA. in alot of those situations he did get lucky but didnt play the hand super badly and then lucked out or anything, like aaron kanter

Yeah until HU from they show, even though he often got it AI with the worse hand I can barely fault his play. But still, he was running real good to survive/win all of those. In the final table he even cracked A's with AKs or something.

3 handed he also made great moves, though he also had great cards. and he did seem to be comfortable against those 2 por's.
However once it got HU he sort of lost it. Sure Gus finally got cards HU. But Gus was able to fold Q's while freaky wasn't able to fold 2nd pair. And from what they showed of the HU he didn't play it that great.
