Back in the fray

Postby LeeG » Tue May 13, 2008 3:13 am GMT

I am back into playing more online after a winter of mostly live/tournament play. I stuck $100 on each stars and tilt to start off. Stars is bad. They have Triple Draw. Its like poker heroin for me.

Due to my excesses on PS, I have been doing most of my play in Tilt. I played quite a lot of HORSE and mix games this past winter, so I've been been focusing on the Stud games. For now, I think I have found my niche in Stud Hi. The last 4 nights I have bought in for $40 (default buy) and cashed up 60, 140, 220 and 275 playing 2/4.

The games are so soft. 2 nights ago I had rolled aces - betting capped on 3rd st with 4 players in. Hit the other ace on 4th st for quads - betting capped AGAIN (lost 1 player). The other 3 stayed with me to the river with me getting in 3 bets on 6th and 7th. Amazing.

My next big project is going to be working on my Omaha Hi, Omaha 8, and PL Omaha games - I do OK but they are definitely the weak spot in my HORSE game.

I hope you weren't the one capping and sticking the bets in with rolled aces. It might be ok to do it every now and again to throw your opponents off but that hand is far to strong to be giving away what you have.

Stud games can be very swingy, believe me. I have been playing them all for about 18 months at all different stakes and the swings are sick.

Funny you should say about a niche, I think I found mine as well. I feel most confident at Stud8 these days and I just sit at the HU tables to play against the players looking for action. Been profitable so far.

I agree that the Stud and Mixed game tables on Stars at least have gotten fishy again. A lot of the better regulars that were playing 4-6 months ago have either quit or moved up, and there are a lot of fishies in the game.
