He raised utg level 1, If I 3 bet , I reckon to only get action from the really top percentile of hands, like AA,KK,AKs etc, and maybe jj too actually.
When i 3 bet an utg raise, my hand is pretty faceup , its gonna be QQ + obv, so this early on , i dont mind playin a smaller pot in position, with a big pair disguised.
If I 3 bet and he shoves, I miss my chance to break him if he has AA,KK aswell.
Sure , later on I ll re shove/re riase etc with the QQ here and gl to him if he has AA,KK. But earlier on, I will often/occasionally take a more conservative route.
As it turned out I saved some money , thats being results orientated, but tbh, I could save more and just fold river too, I really beat nothing except maybe KJ or something. Pretty weak river call, especially since his hand is pretty obvious too.

My opinion is uneducated too friend, what authority do I possibly have ?
Let me put it this way, what are YOU going to call with if YOU riase utg and are 3 bet during level 2, lets say i make it 300.Set mine with the low pairs?
Also, what are you going to put the opponent on when they 3 bet you and you've raised from utg durin level 2.
I dont want my opponent to KNOW for sure I have a huge pair aswell remember.

No,same rules dont apply. If I was in position and he was in cutoff, I'd 3 bet most of the time. I don't wanna let 89 raise, flop 89x and me stack off. I'd rather 3 bet then, plus when he raises in late position and i 3 bet, my hand isn't in such a tight range of QQ+, it can look like any pair 77+ or any broadway cards. (even tho i dont 3 bet these hands here)

I'm not sure you did. I'd 3-bet to 300 here and then release to a 4-bet shove. You paid 470 for the privilege of seeing KK. If your 3-bet turns your hand into QQ+, his 4-bet gives you what you need to know...........
Playing both ways is OK I guess but I favour 3-betting this almost every time against all but the weakest players.

Isn't that Weeejustin..Bonono? (spelling?)
I think the three bet here would be a better what of finding where you stand pre-flop?
Next question...why not bet that turn? If he raises you can let go...but you might have him thinking your holding a big A here.
Just looking for some insight at these levels...not critiquing...

The fact that the player is UTG and has raised to 3xbb still encompasses a pretty wide range of hands imho. im thinking 88+, or two pieces of broadway JT+ and higher? really depends on the opponents pf hand selection, but most for most unknowns i assume play is similar to that of 1/2NL live (i.e. very fishy/touristy) ok so you are already dominating 2/3rds of his range, flipping against another portion, and only completely dominated by two hands. to open utg and then fold would actually take some thought, so we know we can jam the pot vs. 80% of his range and maximise value with our big broadway pair.
as far as his perception of our hand, well that really depends. does villain have any reads on our play? have we been active preflop, betting and 3-betting often, or have we folded our blinds and been otherwise uninvolved in any hands. either way, i think we are still getting a call 60-80% of the time.
one thing i'm not factoring in here is the buy-in level of this tournament, as I'm sure level of play increases exponentially in the more expensive tournaments. (I personally have never played above the 5+R).

I don't love turn betting here, I have position and can just play pot smaller. If im not gonna 3 bet pf, Im not gonna lead when A hits , for no reason. If he doesn't have the ace, he probably has very few outs to beat me, so im not worried about being sucked out on. I guess it just seemed trivial to check back on turn uau.
As to 3 betting pf, sure, I could. Sometimes I would, but I lean slightly toward flatting more at this stage.
Is it just me then that thinks my hand is extremely obv if i 3 bet utg raise during level 1/2 here?
