Re: big lick strikes again
I was playing in a local tourney this weekend. There were still 23 of 38 left in the tourney. There were two guys at my table that pretty much called everything with anything and were hitting every board. I have folded pretty much the entire tournament (terrible run of cards - no bluff opps with stations 1 & 2 at the table). I only showed down with two hands, both of which I won pretty big pots.
The blinds were 40/80 with 2 minutes until the next blind raise. We are 7-handed. I'm sitting UTG with ~680 and look down to see AA. Finally! I contemplate both luckboxes in LP and decide to push, since I've only seen both of them fold once and that was to my only other preflop raise.
It folds around to BB who is sitting on ~600 who says the dreaded words, "Okay, I'll play. You have like A4, right?", as he shoves in his chips. The old guy to his right laughs and says, "She's got at least big slick, kid".
I could already hear my aces cracking. He flips over 69s. Flop: 8s 4c 5s. Turn: 7s. I don't recall the river because it didn't matter.
Not only did he hit, but he had to catch the straight flush just for a little salt in the wound.
That's poker. I double up a few times and held on to go out 20th with my little stack of about 100, which was not too bad, considering. Of course, big slick went down to J9 to put me out. I really need to make a sacrifice to the poker gods, STAT.

Re: big lick strikes again
So you're in a tourney which has lost 15 of the 38 starters but you are at 40/80 with 680 chips. That is one funky tournament Wenchy
