Big stack strategy
Playing a tournament the other night, had the good fortune to be a big enough stack early on to try some different plays while the blinds were low.
For a while, I tried calling with anything remotely playable -- any two connected, suited, high-ish cards, etc. Kind of the "they'll never put me on these if I hit" strategy.
After that, I changed to a "play fewer hands, but make it expensive for the field when I do come in" strategy. So, while my my range was wider than my usual tight style, I was more selective and more aggressive in raising/betting and less concerned about position, as compared to the previous section.
While the latter strategy worked better for me on this particular night, I also didn't particularly hit any flops in the first part, and hit well in the second.
Just wondering if what others' experiences/strategies have been when playing the big stack.

The last MTT I played I tripled up in the first blind level (AA vs QJs vs 77). From there I played "raise or fold" poker preflop and c-bet a LOT. It worked very well. Of course, it didn't hurt when my KK ran into QQ for a big pot and AK vs AQ for another big pot and both hands held. In all, if I have a big stack, I like pushing my stack around, especially from LP or against short stacks.

I'd generally be tight vs other big stacks, lean on the medium stacks and stay away from the desperates untill pot odds dictated otherwise.
If its a good tactic, I don't know.

Oh, good point, Tame, I'd forgotten to mention that.
Fortunately for me the other big stack at the table I was at seemed to understand that there was no need for us to tangle, and we pretty much avoided each other.

Big stack early doesn't really mean much IMO, you shouldn't drastically change your game plan since everyone has a lot of play left.
Near the bubble and after is when I think the big stack should start pounding.
