blinds schedule for small games

Postby tastic » Wed Mar 09, 2005 8:06 pm GMT

hello all...

I was wondering if anyone had any suggestions for a blinds schedule for a game of 6...

I give out $5000 in chips to each player...in $25s, $100s and $500s...

Blinds start at 50/25...the schedule I use is designed for 10-15 players...and is quite erratic for 6 people...tends to be lots of starting slow play and then frantic near the end...I like a 4.5 hour game...

so I guess more easily asked...what should my blinds be at, at the 4.5 hour mark, given 6 players to start, and $30000 total bankroll in play?

thanks

First off, you have too much $$ in play. With the 25/50 blinds, you should only be giving out $2500 at most (50x the BB). Blinds up every 20-30 minutes depending on how fast you want your game to move. Try that out for a game and see how it works out for you.

i like to have the big blind about the size of the starting stack when i want the tourney to end. for your example the big blind would be $5000 at 4.5 hours.
that's a pretty big ramp up from starting at 25/50.

i agree with Nickmast. try decreasing the starting stack size.

We have two blind structures in our tourneys. We usually have 12 - 18 people, you get $5000. Blinds double every 30 min with a 5 minute break between rounds. Blinds are:
25:50
50:100
100:250
250:500
500:1000
1000:2500
2500:5000
5000:10000

Our other structure that we use when there are more "first timers" or newer people is:
25:50
50:100
75:150 <-- breaker
100:250
250:500
500:1000
750:1500 <-- breaker
1000:2500
2500:5000
5000:10000

We use the second just to keep them in longer, make it fun for all and not so much pressure on newer folks to bust ass early like you have to in the primary blind structure.
