Ups and DownsTwo more SnGs, only one ITM and it was in 3rd which was a little disappointing.
The SnG from last night was a pretty 'blah' game overall, I never really had many decent hands and never really made any decent plays. I ended up getting lucky, my KK against a pusher with 44, but later blew a lot of chips on a misplayed AKo. Oh well, it happens. Soon after, somewhat short-stacked, I pushed with AK after the big stack raised 3xBB and he called me with A4s and hit a flush, I was out in 5th. I guess I was pretty annoyed afterwards and didn't play very well, especially after my AK blunder. Was frustrated I blew the hand when I was in a position to coast into 3rd, but it happens. Woke up this morning hoping to make up for that one and joined up. Cards wise this was a strange tournament for me, I ended up getting quite a few nice starting hands early on but couldn't a single flop. I had 33, 66, 88, 99 and JJ all in the first 2 levels but never made a set or draw and always had overcards. The... That was me earlier. First hand at the table I got JJ and he called me down to the river before he finally gave up on his 99 when I pushed with my set. After that I watched him make ridiculous call after ridiculous call and continue to hit cards. He was eventually yup 4 buy-ins and I was praying for a good hand - 2 hands earlier he'd pushed with NOTHING and runner-runnered a set to beat a guy with two pair.
I get QQ from MP, raise 4xBB and he calls, flop comes 45T rainbow and he pushes. He wasn't really playing terrible cards, just making retarded decisions so I didn't think he'd made two pair or anything. I decided to call and for once he actually had a hand - AA. I still like my call given the player, I was just pissed I lost my entire stack when he finally made a hand. Anyway, sat down later on again to play some cash before I head out and made... Anyway, stuck my cash in another $5 SnG on Stars this afternoon and it was a pretty frustrating game to be honest, but I did catch some breaks when I needed them. It started out with Everyone being SUPER tight, it took like 20 min for the first person to get knocked out - it's just too bad my cards were horrible, I couldn't take advantage of the tight play. I did get Kings early, but when I re-raised an UTG raiser (my raise was pretty small) he still folded. Sigh. Anyway, it was basically a battle to stay around as the blinds were getting up there and people just weren't getting knocked out. Finally started to happen though and I started playing a little more aggressively, trying to make sure I stay at a decent stack. The only decent profit hand I had was when we were 6-handed, I was dealt AKs in BB - it's raised 3xBB from button, I raise... After losing that last $5 SnG I was getting pretty low, combined with losing a bunch of $1 SnGs and tourneys I wasn't too pleased with my profit lately. Anyway, this was my first real slide (they're expected but still hated) and I was down to $36.90. I decided I would use $5.50 of that on an SnG and $1.20 on an MTT. If I lost both I'd sit on my $30 BR til I got my money and was able to bump up my BR. Didn't have to! I know I shouldn't be playing the $5 SnGs but for me they are just SO much more beatable than the $1 games. I've said it before, I'll say it again - I can't wait til I can play these regularily. Signed up for the $5 and off I went, was getting bad cards for a while and just decided to sit around and wait a bit while others got knocked out. There was this one guy that was SO reckless and a complete moron, just wish I was the one to take him out. I did take some chips to somewhat get me going, around... Will pick it up again later this week when I get the money I'm waiting on.
But today I did play in a local freeroll, 250 people with top prize of $65. Too bad, as usual, it ends in a lame way. I started out really strong because I switched up my style a bit. The guys in this freeroll were pretty good but were hard to get reads on, some of them were pretty damn LAG. Usually against this type of player I get a little overaggressive when I hit something and I end up making a bad play. Today I played it pretty passively and it worked well early on. At the first break I was in the top 10, not too shabby. I had a few good hands early on where I made good moves that either paid off or resulted in a good steal. Was feeling very good, better than usual lately. Eventually though I stopped getting cards and the CL to my right was raising 3-5xBB every single hand so I was...
