The rest of camp went totally awesome, easily the best summer I've had working for them. I also managed, through a camp connection, to finagle myself a real actual factual legitimate normal job. How exciting. Only took me 4 years out of college to finally land a normal job! Recession nothing bitches. 8th grade TA with special ed and special needs kids, plus a one on one math class with an advanced 7th grade student. Pay isn't great, but it's a start and if I do well it goes up every year nicely, plus I'm going to hopefully get involved in some coaching, possibly in all three seasons, though I never did sports in the winter because basketball is the devil, I didn't get into hockey until I was too old, and I didn't run track even though I could've because I run super fast! Football and baseball are the two big ones. I likes them.

Yeah. I play very little. I got the urge to grind the shit out of cash games again, so I did that for a few days at NL25, made some buyins, then it petered out again. Now it's more playing whenever I feel like it, and not that I don't feel like it, but I'm pretty wiped when I get home and don't feel like making my brain do smart things. Weekends tend to go better and I get some grindage in, but really it's been about 2000 hands in the past two weeks. Nothing major. 6 tabling 6max and running hot, so I think I'm awesomer than I am, but whatever I'll enjoy it. Last night was excellent. On about 4 hours of horrible sleep because the camp I'm at had an overnight, I hadn't had any alcohol for almost two weeks because I've been sick, so I'm two beers in and strongly buzzed and completely cracked out, and there's this sweet table I notice as I'm watching Ace Ventura 2 with an average pot of $20. Even though I've played four sngs this week. Noice. Stupid job. This being a poker blog first and foremost, the updates will most likely beome less and less frequent. So solly. At least I make more at the job than I did doing poker...I think. This is where recording my results and time played would probably be helpful. Either way, the odd part about it is that I've not thought of poker at all in the past few days. Going cold turkey for a little while like this was something I had not anticipated, but it's been totally fine. Often if I don't play I start to get jonesing for some poker, but even today with a wide open saturday, eh. Doubtless I will fire up UB after I eat some breakfast and shower, more out of a lack of something to do I guess, and more money is good now that I've got another few hundo a month in car payments. Cracked the 1000 mark again, which is a mini milestone for me since back when I was grinding cash, that was the goal I wanted to reach before I cashed out so the entire UB experiment wasn't a complete bust. Now that I'm over it though, not sure if I want to leave just yet. Not even sure what will determine when I'll switch back to Stars (or maybe Tilt, but they piss me off offering me some crapass bonus to get me back because I haven't played there in a few months...hey dickheads, get with it and get me rakeback and I'm yours for life. Also, I like their tournaments a lot more than any other site.) I know I'll move eventually because there just isn't nearly enough traffic on UB, which is too bad because it's quite soft, as evidenced by my recent success. Yeah I'm getting better, but it's easy to cash when you've got 6 monkeys at the table with you. Might just finish out the month then get frustrated that it takes 5-10 minutes to fill one sng, and in a session I'll be lucky to get...

And it hasn't officially started yet, but being assistant director means I now get to do all those things that just seemed "taken care of" when I was a counselor, so I've gone in a bunch to set things up/make manuals/call people/go through health forms. Lots of excellent things. Orientation is this week as well, and it's wicked cutting into my poker grumble grumble. Started mixing in a few $30s with the $20s, turned out being even tighter than the $20s which I guess is normal enough. The only other real frame of reference I have is PartyPoker, and there were a crapload of idiots at every level there I found, even up to $50s which I had dabbled in for about a hundred sngs or so. There are still nutters on UB to be sure, but quite a few less. This is nothing new, but the ratio from idiot to decent player is rising proportionally with stakes at such a precise level which strikes me as a bit odd.
