World Series ends and my run for the glory n goldWell, now that Adam is out of town, I can get back down to business. As always, it was fun hanging out with Adam (and Mika and his buddy Rob), and of course this means blackjack, craps, drinking, and strippers!
I think the funniest moment is making a failed attempt to get Adam to go the strip club instead of playing cards (casino games) on the strip. Adam's response to my urges... "I'd rather spend money on something I don't feel guilty about..." You'd rather drop $400 playing without an edge instead of $100 to have boobies in your face?! C'mon man! But, it was our last weekend there, so I appeased. And of course I lost playing pai gow poker. So, about a month ago, I'd been struggling to get everything going online, then I just took a break with Adam in town. I got back into action two days ago on the 1/2NL game at the Venetian. Crazy... I'd pulled out the biggest win in one session... $700 in about 5 hours. My biggest read in that night was when a complete donk sat at the... For the first 14 days, I put in over 15,000 hands of poker on the micro limit games, just to get used to the multi-tabling short handed tables. At first, it was a little bit daunting... but with time and practice it does get a little easier each day. I feel at ease with four tables, and still comfortable at six. Eight would be a nice challenge.
After Adam came to town, I took it easy with online poker. I played a few tournaments/satellites with limited success. I'm sure I'll play some more. I think the nice thing was going back to the full ring 1/2NL games. It was soft at the Hooters casino, and I'm still high from folding QQ preflop to aces. First time I ever did it, and my read was dead on. I think confidence really played a key role, especially as the table I was on had dropped to short-handed. I pwned one guy... flopped a set and he found himself all-in, and I grabbed the rest of his stack. I really wanted to play... I guess in the days after that I had gone on a date with another cute cocktail waitress at work... and well after it didn't work out, I did a stupid thing and called an ex girlfriend from two years ago! We had a great conversation, and for a few days I was contemplating on whether I would move to San Fran to be with her, if the opportunity came up. It really took a few days of soul searching... essentially I'd be putting "the dream" back on hold again. I'd talked to a lot of people concerning this... seriously, do you give up a shot at a dream towards a shot at love. This girl was pretty awesome... the cocktail waitress ain't worth a million dollars, but maybe this girl was. I don't know though if it would even work out if she agreed to it. Sorry guys I didn't even consult y'all, the thp forum buddies, on this one. Either way, after a few days, I came to my senses and realized... hey I'm staying...
[ Continued ] 0 Comments Viewed 6 times It's begun...Well, I finally got all the traveling done for the year... now it's just poker, poker, and more poker. I just gotta wait for my nieces to leave town with my sister again... and hopefully nothing happens with this cute cocktail waitress I'm gonna watch a movie with tomorrow... either way... here's a post at a forum I recently subscribed to... I don't think I ever told you guys....
I'm here like you guys, to seriously take a stab at making some cash at this game... (or go down in flames.) So, a little bit about myself and how I came into this site... I moved to Las Vegas about 4 years ago... broke and 15K in debt! I had a small business that I waited too late to let go of... around the time that it was falling apart in late 2003 I was playing a lot of poker to kill time... specifically the pokerroom.com daily freerolls. Because I was broke in Los Angeles, I really was afraid of the idea of gambling or playing poker, so I just picked up Sklansky's book and read it front to back. I... I've noticed that some of the bloggers from yesteryear have disappeared... some of the bigger ones out there.
