Get Ball Rolling.....

1st of all Congrats to Aelred on his score in the nightly of $8,900.

2nd I am back from our trip from Amsterdam and home from uni for a few weeks and not really doing anything poker wise since i been back.

Till Today...I thought, right I wasnt hitting any results due to bad play or varianace blah blah so I thought Id deposit a good chunk online. I deposited 2k or $3900 ish on Betfair and hit the nl $500 or nl $1k cash games.

Well , seems I cant beat cash games, I just left a few hours session and lost like $2800 of what I deposited, I decided to quit and withdraw the meagre amount I had left. Maybe I did few bad calls or whatever but mainly it really was luck. A-3 I raise short handed , Flop A-3-K , turn J ( He has AJ) I wisely check call from turn onwards.

A-9 , I riase from bb to sb, flop A-5-Q, (He Has A-5) only hand he can have there to have me beat and play the way he did.

Few others that I cant be arsed to bore you with , just thought I d vent a bit.

PREtty f*cking annoying I mean , I consider myself an exceptional tournament player and my stats this year imo are shit for what it could/should be, I won the 55k in januray and hit the odd reasonable score but the amount of times I gone deep just to fall is a joke.

Then I move to cash games which I am definitely adeqaute at I lose more.

Add to the fact that I waste ALOT and lend people at will. Ya know, I checked on pokerdb other day and it says i earnt $102k on pokerstars and over $10k on other sites....That doesnt please me one bit, If anything it shows how shit I am at management and holdin on to money. Cos My roll is significantly lower then that, I wont say the exact amount but its alot lower.

Basically, I been thinking , If I fail this year I was planning on going pro but I dont know If I even WANT to anymore. Maybe I am just pissed cos my roll is going lower at the moment but I need a confidence and roll boost...and soon.

I feel your pain, Ciso, and I am not half the tournament player you are. I wouldn't expect that my advice is anything you don't already know, but I might suggest one of two things:

1. Either focus on tournaments exclusively since that is your strong suit, or...

2. Move down in stakes a little in the cash games; focus your energy into bettering your game and say "okay, with that same focus I put into getting good at tournaments, I'm going to try to get better at cash games." Very few people are highly skilled at both forms of Poker, but you can be a winning player, guaranteed.

Not much you can do with a cold run of cards, but just try and weather the storm and start keeping a little better track of your finances. As a winning player who has gone broke from poor management myself, I understand how important it can be to keep your spending and roll management in order.
