LoL DonkamentsIf there were titles to specific days in my life, that would be today's theme.
Started the day by playing the Sunday Hundred Grand, doubled to 6k the fourth hand when someone got it in with 8's vs my Kings. Unfortunately, that would be the last time I really won a pot the rest of the tournament. Picked up three hands that ended up being the end of my tournament life, all vs short stacks with ~1000-1800. AQ suited in the small blind, made a raise to half the BB's stack, he insta shoves and I call, he flips over AK suited. Shake it off, three hands later, I pick up AKs, short stack shoves all in for the ~seventh~ hand in a row, I reraise to isolate, he flips over AA. Finally, after chipping down to 3,400 chips with blinds at 400/800, I shove with KK and get snap called by AA. Bust ~600 from the money. Played 4 SnG's, busted out of two when AK failed to hold up vs 23 and JJ couldn't hold vs 86s. Made the money in another one, currently the big stack, pick up KK, fold... [ Continued ] 3 Comments Viewed 3 times Tried to focus this blog, failed.Been taking a long hard look at my poker game after a short break and a serious amount of reading and rereading some poker literature. Some of the stuff I read practically rocked my world; it's been so long since I questioned any way of poker other than what I've been doing for years as correct. Phil Gordon's Little Green Book only gave me about two small insights, but they've been doing wonders in concealing my hands to raises, as I'd often get predictable if I got tired.
Got Harrington on Holdem III, did all of the problems, some were predictable, others made me tweak a bit of thinking. For instance, a lot of my play UTG is very often much more aggressive in tourney settings, but HoH III showed a modified style that works better at extracting money and leaving more wiggle room if I get called and whiff or run into a solid player/calling station.
