Righto, update!

So far so good at NL50. Ran pretty hot the first two days, so the few were just piddling around, losing it back a bit, running it back up. Off the top of my head, I can say I've truly botched maybe 10 hands, like I look back over the HH on PT and vomit, with a whole basket full of minor botches I'm sure. So far I'm running 3.21ptbb/100 over the first 6600 hands which is pretty respectacle I suppose for having not played NL cash regularly for almost 3 years. Yeah, it's NL50, big whoop right Ham? Well shaddap this is a good confidence booster.

Aces are of course the mondo winner, 33 times with 100% success. Natch I just jinxed it by doing that, but that's a rather staggering number. That means over the next 67, I'm going to lose 20 times :(. More of the usual suspects at the top, queens, jacks, then AKs, then ducks! Love those sets. 63s is 7th on the list, followed closely by 64s which makes me happy because I derive a sick joy from winning with garbage hands. Biggest loser...

After a brief polling of the IRC gang, in which I got two responses from the three choices given I mentioned yesterday, both said grind NL50, so here's I am. Dumbass me didn't save whatever confirmation e-mail I got from pokertracker way back when, so I redownloaded but got version 3 this time which is sexier I think. Suppose I'll buy it eventually, since I forgot that I sure likes it. Then got meself a cheapo (free) hud, and 6 tabled it up for a shade over 1000 hands yesterday. About 400 hands/hour 6 tabling, so 1500 a day is a fairly reasonable goal, and 2000 is well within reach as well. This is good. No major foulups, only one stackage my way where a guy called my flop shove with A8 vs my AK on K82. Mostly marveling at how much of a rock garden NL50 seems to be now. Could be the times I'm playing as well, but wow, lots of VPIPs in the single digits floating around, so plenty of pot stealing and raising with garbage and all that. It's fun limping UTG with 56s! I missed that...

Robusto!

That's right folks, Fulltilt account has 7.60 left after my decision to have a few more goes with superturbos. Long story short, another ~500 or so in 2 days without even batting an eyelash. Scaled back to 6 tables which was so much easier after the 12-16 tabling nonsense of the double or nothings. I'm not sure if it's indifference or some poker zen thing, but I figured I'd care a heck of a lot more. I do care about the losing, it's bothering me, but not so much the monetary side of things. I don't quite get it. Comfortable I suppose? In hindsight the only mistake I see is not moving back down to the 28s nearly fast enough to recoup myself in the mid thousands. That and I continued with the 15s when I was well below 30 buyins, mostly because busting my roll isn't the end of the world, far from it. I've played long enough that I'd like to stay at stakes that are somewhat meaningful to me, and as much as I'd love to keep dropping down and down and down until I'm grinding the 2 dollar...

Umm...Cascading?

I played 12 tables cascaded yesterday easier than I ever played 8 tiling. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME!!? Man, what a huge difference. The only drawback (which I'm sort of over with at the moment anyway) is not being able to watch the action on all the tables and pay attention to stacks and how many players, etc, but man, I haven't timed out once, nor have I ever felt really rushed. It's totally sweet. The first session the other day was a little shaky because I wasn't fully paying attention to the details of the table, so I ended up with a few quasi silly bubbles, but for the most part it's working out splendiferously. Cranking out a modest profit 12 tabling the double or nothings, which are fairly straightfoward, especially if you've got the chiplead with 7 players or less. Depending on stacks, I'll push up to like 70% of my hands and steal blinds relentlessly because everyone is super scared of bubbling. With good reason too I guess, if you're second in chips and biggie pushes and...

The Beat Goes On

Permanent Linkby Hurricane Ham on Mon Apr 06, 2009 9:53 am GMT

The bad day turned into the bad week, and it's affecting me now more than it did in the past, whether I like to admit it or not. Donked around in some SCOOP with no results, but was fun nonetheless, then decided to try to get back on the horse yesterday at the 15s. Second hand of the very first sng I lose AQ to AJ, and my brain tells me "oh f*ck, here we go again." It's that negative attitude that's seeped into my game this week that is the biggest issue at this point, and it causes me to keep thinking back to this exact time last week where I just finished an awesome workout, had everything settled in my new apartment, and was ready to tackle the 45s with 2400 more in my Fulltilt account. Tough getting over that hurdle and keeping the negativity at bay.

It doesn't help that I keep losing, as I've not had a winning day since last Sunday. I almost did yesterday, was up 2 buyins, then decided to play a nice relaxing 4 table session for an hour yesterday evening, and proceeded to...
