Redeye, Pinkeye, and...SUPER TURBOS!?!?! YES!

Permanent Linkby Hurricane Ham on Tue Jun 17, 2008 11:28 am GMT

Been back for about a week now after a lovely redeye flight from Vancouver, and now I have pinkeye. Balls. Well that's never happened before. Two different colored eye events in a week. Oh-em-gee.

Ship was cool, same ship doing the same run, so it was a bit less exciting. Mostly stayed on in port and became a gym rat, then killed all the progress I made in the last two weeks of my contract by self-medicating with heavy drinking. Winner.

Sit at home for a few days trying to sleep and readjust to the fact that I have more than 10 square feet of space to live in when I realize "Hey, I used to play poker, maybe I've still got money online somewhere." Sure enough, Fulltilt has 200 clams, Pokerstars a monumental 5 dollars, which I promptly lost in a turbo SNG. Lost with the best hand too. Rigged. Said nuts to poker for a few days, then by a stroke of pure luck putzing around the Fulltilt lobby, I discovered the most beautiful form of poker ever created. Super turbos.

For those of you out there who enjoy depriving yourselves of awesomeness, a super turbo is just like a regular turbo, but FASTER. Duh. Start with 300 chips, blinds are 15/30, go up every 3 minutes. Oh the deliciousness and lucksackery. It's basically endgame of regular turbos, which, as lousy as I am at most forms of poker, tends to be one of my stronger points, and one that I feel I actually have a minor edge over my opponents in at wee stakes. Basically, I push more than the average schmo. The irony of course being that these are super turbos, so really, there's no edge to anyone ever. But I'll keep telling myself otherwise and letting the small sums of money roll on in. Plus I can easily play like 30 in a day since they take no more than 20 minutes tops, average like 13 if you a winnah. It's definitely weird though. That pretty suited ace you've got there, which normally you'd love with 10BB, now becomes shit when you have it in EP the first hand. Maybe it's just me, but I'm finding that early on, my push range still isn't HUGE, especially from EP. Kinda makes sense I guess, with so many to act behind you, just weird with the tiny stacks. Different dynamic. It's also staggering and slightly upsetting how many people raise preflop, then fold to pushes, or simply raise to steal when they themselves only have 8 blinds. Exploiting said stupidity is where teh monies come from.

By running miraculous yesterday after I jumped to the 14s from the 7s severely underrolled, I now have $400 in Fulltilt. Go figure. Time to move up again! Yeehaw.

Hope everything with everyone is going well, may all your cards be live pots be monsters fold preflop etc etc. Come on IRC, it's dead there.

I've got deez nuts
