Umm...Cascading?

Permanent Linkby Hurricane Ham on Sat Apr 11, 2009 9:52 am GMT

I played 12 tables cascaded yesterday easier than I ever played 8 tiling. WHY DIDN'T ANYONE TELL ME!!? Man, what a huge difference. The only drawback (which I'm sort of over with at the moment anyway) is not being able to watch the action on all the tables and pay attention to stacks and how many players, etc, but man, I haven't timed out once, nor have I ever felt really rushed. It's totally sweet. The first session the other day was a little shaky because I wasn't fully paying attention to the details of the table, so I ended up with a few quasi silly bubbles, but for the most part it's working out splendiferously. Cranking out a modest profit 12 tabling the double or nothings, which are fairly straightfoward, especially if you've got the chiplead with 7 players or less. Depending on stacks, I'll push up to like 70% of my hands and steal blinds relentlessly because everyone is super scared of bubbling. With good reason too I guess, if you're second in chips and biggie pushes and there's a few guys with like 4 blinds or less, I'd fold everything too. But that's why it works, and that's why it's tasty. I'll even double up shorties a handful of times and barely be affected because I've stolen so many blinds. It's neat.

Flops are fun too. Obviously playing 12 tables I manage to be even more ABC than I was before, but it's still neat not having to run sickly good in all in situations in order to be successful. Theoretically you could win one of these without ever having to show down a hand. My favorite part is when a table hasn't popped up in a while, then all of the sudden it tells me I won. Poker is neat again. This is good. I still suck at recording my results apparently though, since my numbers NEVER seen to jive.

Scoop silliness is still going on, and I continue to donate with gusto. The $22 1R/1A bored me to tears yesterday, and was in no way phased when I busted with aces vs a set. With 62k in first prize money, I wish I could've gotten a bit more excited about it and a bit more focused. Dunno what was going on there. They're getting a bit pricier as well, so I may try a few satellites to get in, but methinks my SCOOP run may be done. Playing the ME would be nice, so I'll probably make a more concerted effort to satellite into that one.

On a completely unrelated topic, I'm finding out I'm a damn good cook. Having lived at home for about 8 months after graduation before starting ships, then being on ships for almost 2 years, I never had to worry about cooking for myself, so now I'm stretching my culinary muscles with sexy results. Made a killer peanut sauce yesterday for some chicken dumplings, wicked pasta sauces, stir fries. Who knew. I've always been into cooking, mostly because you get to eat it at the end, and I love food. What we really need is a grill for the porch though. Opens up a whole plethora of other delicious things, mostly involving meat and charcoal, which is never a bad thing. Just need the stupid weather to stop sucking so bad. Mid April, and it's like 40 outside. That's about 4.5 for you limey bastards. And we've had three days of sunshine in the past three weeks. Stupid April, you're acting an awful lot like March right now, and nobody likes March. You're not going to have any friends.

I've got deez nuts
