Did I develop poker ADD?

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Thu Sep 18, 2008 10:45 pm GMT

After a near historic up due to the games I was playing and how often I was winning, I flamed out in spectacular fashion. Losing on 80/20 and 90/10 type hands every time.

Due to a lot of real life issues, chief among them being the birth of my son, I stopped playing poker. No more trips to A.C. No local tournaments. No local weekly game. My friend has my personally hand made poker table. But more importantly, no online gaming.

In fact, before I took a break I was about 75% done in creating a new rule book. Complete with pictures, definitions and situational answers to common questions. A work of art. Abandoned...

Fast forward 3-4 months later and due to things settling down I find myself with an hour or so of free time at night now. Mostly due to the baby going to bed at 7:30pm and sleeping through the night. Last week I got the itch...

I put $150 in to my FT account and decided to go slow playing a SnG or two. What I discovered about myself was slightly unnerving. I think I have poker ADD. Previously I could spend twenty hours playing poker straight without losing focus. But now I couldn't sit for still for 15 minutes. What the hell?

Discipline... Poker isn't a physical sport. But like anything that requires a skill set, the less you practice the craft the worse you become. I didn't think it could happen to me. I was wrong. But I still have the itch.
