First BlogWell this is my first poker related (and non-poker related for that matter) blog i've made. I think normal types of blogs are a bit silly, but this sort will be a good way to document the way i'm feeling about this great game we call poker.
I havn't been playing long at all. Me and my friends play several times a year at one anothers houses just for kicks. Hell, none of us really knew the rules and would argue over hand rankings etc :P Anyways, I always took a liking to poker (hold'em) so in the last month or so I've started to read up on lots of literature. To name a few, I read Ken Warren's book on Limit Hold'em, The Theory of Poker and have just completed Super Systems 1 (I plan to read Harrington's series also). I feel in the last two weeks I have learnt so much about the game, but I know I still have a long way to go, but hopefully my desire to learn and dedication to this game will pay off; litterley. I started playing with real money online about 2 weeks ago. I deposited $50 with PokerStars and decided to takle the Limit games. This was probably because I started with Ken Warren's book which is based on Limit Hold'em. Anyways, after my Limit splurge which lasted about a week, I was up a whopping $4. The grind is SO evident with Limit it's not funny. Most of the posts on the THP forums were about No Limit. Most of the pro's played No Limit. The players on t.v. played No Limit. I wanted a piece of that too because I thought I was somewhat playing the kiddy version of Hold'em. So... I decided to give the No Limit tables ago and went quite well. Well, to begin anyway. Basically here is a run down of where my money has gone. Doubled up twice in $10NL Lost two stacks in $10NL All other sessions (both 5 and 10NL) have been neither here nor there. Spent rougly $15 on tournaments with no alas. Best placing was 4th with 3rd being ITM. Oh well. My goals for the time being are as follows. 1/ Read Harrington's books. 2/ Stay away from tournaments for the moment, regardless of how tempting they may be. 3/ Play lower stakes ($5NL) 4/ Experience my first live casino encounter. Hopefully this week. I'll try and keep this updated every few days with whatever may be happening poker-wise. I'll try and put up some hands that I play, so for anyone who's still reading this (as if!!) it'd be great if you could offer your advice when the time comes. Anyways, good luck, have a nice day and may I wish you success at the tables (cept if your playing me!) p.s. I'm sorry if some of this does not make sense. I have to go and work my shitty job and don't have time. (least it's gaurenteed money I guess.) Warren. 1 Comment Viewed 2 times

RE:First BlogNL is probably the most exciting game that is easy to follow. Personally, Omaha does it for me.
If you want to build a bankroll then with the correct bankroll management and good play NL will do that for you a lot quicker than limit. Limit is a fine game, don't give up on it yet! GL!!
