Vegas Part 2Day 3:
The girl and I wake up, go to the pool, its like 115 degrees and we only stay for about 45 minutes before we can’t take it anymore. Girlfriend headed straight to the “European†style bathing pool, and I wasn’t about to complain. Saw exactly three nice pairs of breasts, no old hags or anything, but it wasn’t exactly a Victoria’s Secret runway either. Wynn pool A+ if you are older and want a quiter, relaxed topless view. B if you were looking for a really cool assortment of pools. We shower, dress and head over to Treasure Island, go to the buffet. Cost: $24 I think Grade: B+ Solid selection, good food, best desserts of all the buffets. We check out the tiny little TI poker room, its got like 10 tables max. We put our names on the list for 2/4 (I’m gonna take a break tonight and donk it up a little at 2/4). The 7 PM tourney was winding down. I love these things, average chip stack 3,200 and blinds at 300/600. Sit down, get dealt AQ of clubs in the BB, call a raise and we go to the flop 6 handed. Flop is a paired board of rags and it checks around. Turn is an ace, I bet, everyone folds to button who raises. I call. River is a blank, I check/call, he tables 88 for the flopped boat. Doh. Seems like this 2nd best hand stuff will never end. Another hand I get pocket Jacks, raise preflop, bet the flop, turn, and river against all undercards and win, opponent mucks. By this time my girl is getting pummeled. She is a solid player, with a decent, but not great understanding of limit hold’em. She is getting big ace after big ace, flopping TP and getting rivered by A10 it seems like everytime. I think I got pocket aces, won a small pot. My girlfriend loses her $100. I get dealt QJo in mid position and limp in behind another limper, button (TAG if there was one in this game) limps, blinds complete. Flop is 8 9 J. Limper bets, I raise, button cold-calls, blinds fold. Turn is a blank, limper checks, I bet, button calls, limper folds. River brings a K. I check and button checks. My QJ holds up against his TJ. Ship it. Last hand I’m UTG with KQs, I raise, two callers including the tight-ass old guy in the BB. Flop is 9 10 6 with two hearts. He bets I call. Turn is a Q of clubs. He bets, I raise, he calls. River brings the worst card in the deck, 8 of hearts. He bets, I muck. I think this was the only hand he played in the 2 orbits he was there while I was, I’m pretty sure a bet here means a Jack. Or is he that smart that it doesn’t mean a jack but he thinks I think it will mean a jack????? I dunno, but he mucked and I left up +$20. Day 4: Check out of the Wynn, head to our new home, the west wing of the MGM. Now, we purposefully payed a little extra to get the “west wing†room. I didn’t really care, but the girl had it set in her head, whatever, we already got 3 nights comped at the Wynn I won’t complain if we stay at the Sahara. Hallway is really, really dark to get to the room. Room is really dark, kinda stylish-trendy modern theme. Pretty small, small bathroom. Overall: B- (maybe I’m biased b/c we just left the Wynn, dunno.) I think we went to Circus Circus that day, my girlfriend loves those cheesy carnival-like games. I don’t mind, we go and blow like 20 bucks, win some stuffed animals, it’s all good. Casino is a dump, elevators in the parking lot take like 10 minutes to get to you. But on a good note, I stuck a dollar bill in a 5 cent machine while Celeste went to the bathroom and turned it into 6 bucks! Sick. Went to the MGM buffet for dinner. Really good selection, some decent items to choose from, a good prime-rib. $23 I think. Overall A- Played 4/8 at the MGM. I take an open 3/6 seat, post a blind, fold, fold 3 hands of junk, then get moved to the 4/8 table. Get dealt 78c on my post, folds to me, I check, button calls, SB completes, BB checks. Flop comes 4 5 Q. Checks around. Turn is a 9. Checks to me I bet, button calls, BB calls. I thought I might be able to pick this one up. Oh well. I check/fold a non 7, 8, or 6 river. Next hand I get dealt red kings. 1 limper to me, I raise, 1 cold-caller, BB comes in. Flop is rags 9 high with two spades. Checks to me, I bet, all fold to limper who check/raises. I 3-bet he calls. I thought he might have A9, TT, JJ, some weird middle pair. I bet a Q turn, he calls. Worst card comes, Ace of spades. We go check/check. He tables 99 for top set on the flop…sweet. Next hand I get dealt pocket kings again. I open-raise, (got some funny looks) to late position who 3-bets, I 4-bet it back to me and he caps (AA, AK, QQ I guess). Horrible flop for me. 9 T Q with two diamonds. I can’t really beat anything besides AK here. I check, he bets, I call. Turn is a blank. I check he bets I call. River is a diamond. I check, he checks. He says I got nothing and flips AA. I table KK and the table feels bad for me (I got nothing, WTF?!). I feel bad for myself, after last session at the Wynn making second best hands, this just sucks, I’m down $100 already. All night I play solid poker, got QQ a couple times, had to fold to some bad boards by the turn. Picking up some pots, making my back towards even. I get AKc and raise 4 limpers in the SB. Flop comes A J 5 all of diamonds. I bet the flop and am called by the worst player at the table and some other guy. Turn is a blank no diamond. I bet, bad guy calls, other guy folds. River is an offsuit 6, I bet, bad guy raises?! I call, he tables 5h6d for the bottom two-pair 6 high flush draw. Nice. Cards go cold, blah, blah I lose some pots, I’m at about -$150 or -$120, something like that. Then, a couple bad players leave around 1 or 2 AM and the table fills with like 5 guys who all know each other by first name, obviously locals. I tell myself one more orbit because this game just got bad. I pick up, what you say? My buddies K and K in the SB. 3 limpers, to me, I raise. Flop is 6 9 6 with two diamonds. I bet, one caller (solid local, seat 5), button raises (local who played too many hands, seat 6), I 3-bet, both call. Seat 6 is talking about his hand, I know he doesn’t have a 6, he has a 9, TT, or a flush draw. I bet a Jack on the turn, now seat 5 raises (WTF, he’s got a 9 huh), seat 6 agonizes and says he is folding a really good hand (I don’t care), I call. I check and call and blank river and he tables JJ for the 2-outer boat on the turn. Ok, me likey Vegas. I leave a few hands later down $220-240. Ouch, another expensive night. Universally speaking,
