Session from Hell

I haven't been running particulary well for about a month now, but I decided to take a drive to the Tropicana for some $1/$2 NL or $7.50/$15 FL, otherwise known as the "pink chip" game. I'd have been better off staying at home.

There were no open seats at the pink game, so I put my name on the list and took an open seat at a $1/$2 NL game, buying in for the $300 max. Here's some of the lowlights...

A few hands in, I get AJo in the BB. It folds around to the button who raises to $7. The SB calls and I call. Flop comes KT9 rainbow. SB checks, I check, button bets $15. SB calls, I call with my gutshot and one over. Turn is a 7. We check around. River is a 6. SB checks, I bet $25, button instacalls, SB folds. Button shows QQ.

Ok...no bluffing.

I pick up AQo on the button. UTG+2 raises to $7, folds to me, I pop it to $20. BB calls, original raiser folds. Flop is Qxx, two diamonds. BB open-pushes for $80, I call. He shows ATd, and rivers his diamond for the flush.

KK in the BB. Four limpers to me, I make it $25 to go. Only one limper calls. Flop is 887, I lead for $35, he calls. I expect to be done with the hand until a K comes on the turn. I lead for $75, he pushes, I call. He flopped quads.

Ok, that was an unpleasant way to lose $300.

Head over to the pink game. Buy-in for $500. The pink game is strange in that it's either the tightest or loosest game in the house. Tonight was one of those fun loose nights where the pots get big. I mean, it's fun when you get cards.

Only a couple hands really stand out. AKs UTG, raise, get two callers. Flop comes ATx rainbow. I lead, one fold, and then a raise. I call. Turn gives me a flush draw. I check/call. Whiff the river, check/call, he flips AT.

AJo on the button, two limpers to me, I raise, SB folds, BB and the limpers call. Flop J43, two spades. Checks to me, I bet, only the BB calls. Turn is a 6 spades. We both check. River is another 3, I bet, BB calls and flips J4.

Last hand of the night, I get JTh UTG, I limp with 4 others. Flop is Td 9h 8h. I jam the pot on the flop, whiff the turn and river, and lose to T8o.

In the middle of all that nonsense, I flopped the nut flush draw 4 times. I missed on 3 of them and when I got there the 4th time, someone else made their boat with...T6o.

So, I lost about 1/4 of my live roll in a little over 4 hours. I don't think I'll be making many AC trips in the foreseeable future, because I'm only bankrolled now for $4/$8 limit and I'm not driving two hours for that.

Gaming corrupts our disposition and teaches us a habit of hostility against all mankind.
