"Trip" ReportJust got back from the RCG, drove home incredibly fast, probably got about two hours of play in and now I'm sitting here with a glass of Kettel One in hand as I type this ... so that'll make remembering hands just a bit more interesting.
So immediately I figure out that my table is horrible when I see a few hands go to third pair, ten high, you know, the usual stuff. In particular there is one terrible old woman (70s+) and a very passive older guy (55+). There was another guy who is probably an internet player like me, wearing a baseball cap and tilting his head down everytime he is in a hand. He was pretty aggressive and decent. Rest of the table is mediocre, I'd probably put myself at 2nd or 3rd best at the table even with my limited knowledge of limit hold'em. Anyways ... game is 1-3 spread limit hold'em, SB and BB post $1. In the BB with KT, 5 people (including old donks) see a flop of 5K5. I bet out $2, old woman calls, old guy calls. Turn is 8 putting two diamonds on board, I bet $2 again, both call. River is an offsuit Jack, I check, old woman bets, old man calls and I overcall (probably a mistake, maybe not). Woman shows JT for a rivered two pair .... guy shows AK (I said he was passive right? he limped in LP with AK ...). More hands ... AJ UTG, raise to 4, get like 3 or 4 callers, flop is KT3 and I check/fold it. A8 in MP, raise to 4, get called in a few spots, flop is KJ3 and I check/fold. Passive man shows K2 to win at showdown. 99 in MP with two limpers ahead I limp and flop is A73 with two clubs, folded again. AK, raise from SB with 7 limpers, 6 to the flop of 57J, I check/fold. Board ends at 57J2T with three clubs, Old man ends up showing 22 (after calling flop bet) another guy wins with TT (calling a bet), my friend was in the BB with 77 and check/called the river after leading flop + turn. JJ, I raise to $4 UTG+1, TAG young guy three bets me on button after old woman in the CO called. I check/fold on a KT8 with two spades flop, board ends up being KT87A and old woman open folds the river after check/calling flop and turn ... So those were all horrible hands, I had 55 and 33 once, missed sets. Had probably 4 hands where I either limped or raised with SCs, suited one gappers and missed all of them. I would've flopped an OESD once, but I would've missed. A few hands after I raised an 89s and check/folded wiffed flop, I raise to $4 with AcKs, loose guy two spots to my left calls, new young guy who seems solid and knows what he's doing calls on button. flop is 925 clubs, UTG bets, I call, loose guy raises, button calls, UTG folds, I call. Turn is 8d, I check/call loose guys bet, as does button. River is Kc, I bet, both call, ship it ... On the last hand I had flipped my cards and exclaimed "Finally!" as I lean back in my chair, loose guy shows T5c button doesn't show. Dealer doesn't see that I flipped the nuts and is ready to ship the pot to the loose guy ... dealer's are donkeys. The loose guy was pissed ... f*ck him for cold calling with suited junk in MP vs. a guy who had barely been playing. Overall I ended up down $17 and then afterwards I learned that RCG has a 1/2 NL game which I'll be trying next time (buy-in for $100 probably). I felt I played well, just couldn't catch anything. We'll see how my NL game is ... I believe the next RCG in my area is next Tuesday. Mike Matusow - "They asked me who would you want to be locked on a desert island with?
