Slight Turn AroundI shouldn't be updating this right now cause it's about 6AM and I should probably get to sleep, but f*ck sleep, the quality of my post will be highly questionable, however.
Session of NL40 tonight with some friends, and then some insane online heads-up hyjinx with a very drunk buddy of mine. First the live-poker: The session started off pretty well, we were initially 6 handed with mainly tight players, I was going super-aggro on their asses, PFRing about 40% of my hands, and I raised/re-raised every time from the button. Tonight I was flexing my positional muscle, it felt awesome. I am new enough at poker that playing smart aggressive poker feels like a novelty cause it seems like it wont work, but it really does. Anyways, I worked my stack up to about 65-70$ PF I made it 2.50 to go (.5/1 blinds) with TT and short-stack made it 5, there was 1 caller of my raise and 1 caller of the initail raise, so I saw that as 7.50 in dead money so if I can isolate w/ short-stack I'm golden. I pushed, limper 1 folded, SS called for another 23~ and limper 2 folded. He had AJ suited, but rivered a Jack against me to put me down to about 35 in chips. I was dealt QQ on the button, there was 1 limper and I made it 4$ to go, UTG min-raised me and everyone else folded. I decided to just call here. Flop comes J-7-3 in different suits, UTG checks, I made it 9$~ and UTG pushed me all-in. I made the horrible call here, I should have folded, but I can NOT seem to fold an over-pair, anyways as you all have figured, he's got KK and stacks me... I have the most trouble folding TPTK or overpairs, its rediculous and a massive leak in my game. REBUY #1 Once again I played position for the next couple hours and worked my stack up to about 65-70 through bluffing alone. I have never made as many 3-barreled bluffs in my life as I did tonight, and honestly I was reading players perfectly and using my position to kick ass all over the place. I feel great about my card game after tonight b/c I made so many great reads. I just have to do something about my f*ING problem with high-pairs. Only 1 more interesting hand tonight, I raised with K9o from the CO after 1 limper and only the button called my raise, so I'm OOP for the rest of the hand. Flop comes K88 and I lead out and bet 2/3rds of the pot, he calls the bet. I figured that there is a really good chance i was beat here, he was pretty tight so I gave him credit for something. After he called my flop-bet I was like "yeah I'll check in the dark," a tactic that I very rarely use, but it was perfect in this situation, I've been playing really aggressive and it really threw off my opponent, I think he thought I has absolutely nothing and he checked behind me and gave me a free card. The river brought me a King, saving my sorry lil sketchy ass and giving me at least a split for the pot. I lead out 7$ and he min-raised me here. I was like, Meh split pot and almost called but I figured that if I pushed, he might be dumb enough to call me with the 8s full of kings. Which is exactly what happened, he had J8 and called my all-in bringing me up to about 110 in chips. Actually 1 more hand, I had 4-8s on the button and I made it 4$ to go after 1 limper and just the limper called me. Flop came J-3-6 and dude checked me to. I decided to represent the flop here and bet $4, half the pot. My opponent is really tricky, he's defnitely prone to steal-raising - he made it $10 to go. I really put him on f*ck-all and decided to bluff-call him here with plans of betting on the turn to take the pot down. however, another shit-card comes on the turn and he lead out for $15. So either he's making a nice elaborate bluff, or he's got something, definitely not worth fighting for without a draw to work with, so I folded. He laughed and was like "hah someone finally bluffed you out of a pot and showed AK," I just laughed to myself and throwed the 8-4 into the muck. He played this hand really well, I did read him for weakness, but I can't comit myself to the hand when he follows through and represents on the turn. MEH So not much profit tonight, only +20, but I kicked the losing streak and felt really good about my play. When I got home I popped onto MSN and my friend was like "dude lets play HU for your whole bankroll" My bud was obviously really hammered and just wanted to play someone as shitty as me. My friend is a "college poker pro" type guy, he 6-tables NL100 at WPX and turns a really nice profit, he's a great player who I've learned a lot from. It's usually a -EV play but I was like wtf sure lets play. We don't play at the same site so he transfered me $100 at poker stars and we hopped from table to table running away from pple who tried to invade our heads up match. It was very up-and-down. I luck-boxed and flopped 2 pair with Q-10 on a AQ10 board, we both checked, turn a blank, he bet, I pushed, he called. River was a Q, filling me up, he has KJ for a flopped straight :O and I hit my 4-outter to stay alive. We played for quite a while but eventually he flopped a str8 against against my TPTK and took most of my profit stack (we switched tables and I just bought in short for 50 keeping the 115 he sent me plus a bit in case my luck changed). Anyways I quit after that, sent him back his 100 and was left with a cool 11$ in my Poker Stars account. I played a quick $3 + .40 SNG turbo and took down 2nd so my sweet-ass bankroll is up to 17$ :) :) :) hahahaha I am seriously considering not playing anywhere else and actually just ride the ultra-micro stakes until I have a real roll. I wanna free pokerstars iPod, it took my friend 6 weeks of 6-tabling NL50 to take it down. If I can get one by september I will be pretty damn impressed. Considering I am freerolling at PS anyways after tonight. Penny-stakes players, watch your f*cking backs cause I'm here to take all your shiny pennies - Mwhahahahah Okay it's getting close to 6:30, time for bed. Live roll: 800~ POKERSTARS ROLL: $17 :) :) :) Sorry about the probably incoherant-ness of this post, lack of sleep is my blame-goat. 0 Comments Viewed 4 times |
