tournaments and bad beats

Permanent Linkby exit music on Tue Feb 20, 2007 3:14 am GMT

I am horrible at deepstacked NL. For roughly the last 2K hands i'm down like $60 at NL10 on stars the past couple weeks. That isn't too many hands, but ugh it's just frusturating, all my TPTKs seem to run themselves into sets and my sets get absolutely no action regardless of how I play them.

I've been playing tournaments like crazy, this weekend I have played 15 MTTs or mutle table SNGs with an ROI of 37.30% which is pretty decent for these levels.

I've been working a little bit on the $4.40 180-person SNGs on PS. I haven't cashed yet after 4 recent attempts, but I like the tournament structure, compared to the turbos you have plenty of time to sit back in the 80-30player section. So far I've busted in 20th-30th twice to some lost coinflips, my TT against AQ and KQ, and also my AK agsinst AQ, that was a very tough one to take as it would have made me chipleader of the table with about 24 people left.

This is a strange bad beat that I suffered to bust out of another 180SNG:

PokerStars Game #8529784695: Tournament #43449075, $4.00+$0.40 Hold'em No Limit - Level II (15/30) - 2007/02/20 - 00:01:40 (ET)

Seat 8: TbellBrad23 showed [Ad 5s] and won (3395) with a straight, Ace to Five
Seat 9: nutman12 folded before Flop (didn't bet)

Talk about a strange call, but whatever, I was only about 17% to lose anyway, it's not like he didn't have outs.

I've been busting out of some 45 turbos in equally annoying ways, i'm 2/6 cashing in them this weekend, but still NO WINS. I had a 3rd and a 4th. MEH I'll win one very soon, they turn into push fests late, I keep losing 60-40s or 55-45s to stay out of the bigger money.

I also cashed in 2/2 27person $11 SNGs, this one isn't a turbo either, it's a good tournament structure if you want to spend 2-3 hours, yet NO WINS. a 3rd and a 4th as well =/

So other than not winning tournaments and sucking at NL cash, I feel good about poker. I am very comfortable playing MTTs at the moment and confident in my skillz at these limits. $4.40, $6.50 and $11 MTT SNG players sucxors.
