| Blog Subject: | On Vacation |
For the past 2 weeks I've been away on vacation (from Ontario, first we went to Maggyville, North Carolina, then Louisville, Kentucky, then Cave City, Kentucky). It was a 14 hour drive to NC, then we've been doing a whole lot of driving in between (probably another 14 hours driving through the mountains/highways). In this time I've read a bunch of poker books (Theory of Poker, Phsychology of Poker, Caro's Book of Tells, and skimmed through Proffessional Poker). I've got a few more books at home I've yet to read, so hopefully all this studying will pay off. I'll be home from vacation in a couple days, so we'll see if it's helped my poker :p P.S. I bought 2 decks of antique cards from a general store in some hick town, the lady behind the desk said they're easily over 150 years old |

| Blog Subject: | June 29/06 - Heads Up |
Heads up $5 game last night. I won. I played alot better then I've been playing, didn't rely on luck, I was patient, and just slowly outplayed him. I'm on the search for another home game, but not sure I'll be able to find a decent one worth playing in (there's a $2 game, it's almost garunteed win, but it's not even worth my time, I might aswell get a freaking job haha). |

| Blog Subject: | June 24/06 - Another losing game |
Played a $5 5 man SnG. It wasn't a very good game. One particular hand: CO is VERY aggressive player. He'll do anythign he can to get you off a hand, and will often push as hard as he can with draws. I had QJs on the button. UTG fold, CO calls. I raise 50. Blinds fold, CO calls. FLOP - Jxx , 2 suits (x is lower then J) CO bets ~ 1/2 pot, I raise, and he pushes allin. After thinking for a while, I fold. Thinking about it, I probably should have called. I think the most possible hands for him would be flush draw, TJ, and KJ. Other possibilities AJ, and a set (not Jacks). I don't think these are as likely, because the way the pot was played preflop. With the chip/blind structure we use, starting M's are a little over 16, and at this point, he had ~14. I'm not sure with an M of 14, he'd want to mess around with AJ, calling out of position (am I right in thinking this?). He could have made a set, but again, facing a raise, out of position, would he want to call? ... [ Continued ] |

| Blog Subject: | Trying 'er Out |
Alright, gonna start (and try to keep up with) a poker blog. I'm fairly new to poker. I've been playing for ~ 1 year (real money live, only play money online). I play in a $5 SnG homegame weekly. Everyone takes it fairly seriously, and for the most part, everyone's pretty good (minus a couple select individuals, including myself). My goal in poker right now isn't to make money, so much as it is to improve my game alot. I've spent all the money I've won playing these tournys on various poker books ("HoH 1-3", "SS", "Phil Gordon's Little Green Book", "NLHE Theory and Practice", and "Poker for Dummies". I'd like to someday play poker semi-proffesionally, so I'll need to improve ALOT. That's about it, I'll post again after next game (not sure when it will be, exams end Friday, so probably Saturday). |
