First week summary

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Sun Jun 10, 2007 12:54 am GMT

Well it has been an interesting first week back playing in the land of online poker. I’ve had some extreme highs and some extreme lows. I’ve had an 84 second SnG. During one streak I lost 6 out of 7. I’ve won 5 out of seven on another run. I’ve been sick the last couple of days and on Thursday my internet connection went completely out. Hence the lack of updates.

No matter how skilled you are (or think you are) your fate is ultimately decided by powers out of your control. One can only hope that the situation you put yourself in will be favorable towards your bottom line. Even though something might have a 1% chance to happen… guess what… someone has to eventually be that 1%.

I could insert some philosophical bullshit and self introspection but quite frankly I’m not in the mood. Secondly it would only be some self ego masturbatory thing as if anyone in the free world gives a crap as to what I write here.

So with that, I’ll unleash the raw data on you:
Bankrol...

Listen to your gut-Day 6

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Wed Jun 06, 2007 12:36 am GMT

Today started off bad from the start. Early in the morning I got a call from my boss at work. I need you here now there has been a security breach of the network he said. No… There wasn’t… What had happened was someone didn’t have the proper permissions on a directory they wanted to keep private and someone else went snooping. The snoop actually went to the big boss of the company the #1 and told her what he did. #1 called my boss the #2 who called me at home early in the morning. Nice… On top of it I woke up with a migraine and had to inject myself with my prescription which for some reason caused my shoulder to rash up and the migraine never really went away.

At work I told myself not to play poker when I got home. I knew it was a doomed day. I got stuck behind a blue hair on the way to work going 15 in a 30 with no passing options. I waited forever for the elevator. The restaurant I normally go to for lunch oddly, for the first time in seven years, was not open on time....

Day 4 & 5

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Tue Jun 05, 2007 12:43 am GMT

Lady luck can be a cruel… cruel… she bitch. Since my last post I went on a horrendous run of defeats. My misfortune included a streak of five loses in a row. Two of these beats were how I ended my day from my last blog entry and three from after.

I placed in the money once out of seven straight SnGs. It was a beating reserved only for someone like Trevor Berbick. I got knocked down hard and fast but kept trying to get up, stumbling all along the way. In fact, that run handed me my worst game yet. Like a Mike Tyson first round knock out I was gone in 1 minute and 24 seconds flat of a $22+2.

As any self respecting degenerate gambler would do… I raised the stakes I was playing at. I went from the $22+2 nine person turbo SnG to a $33+3. I lost again and humbly decided to down shift back to $22+2. Finally… after six straight SnGs I got to savor what victory was like again. A feeling I thought I might never be able to remember as I placed second in a $22+2.

I played one ...

Day 3

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Sun Jun 03, 2007 1:51 am GMT

Nothing really spectacular happened today. The BR is up to $236.64 now. It was a crazy few hours marked with lots of highs; finished 2nd in a $55+5 and $33+3. Then finally a first in a $22+2. Lady luck caught up to me and decided to hand me some loses after that.

What I didn’t realize was that when I installed Full Tilt on to my new computer that the software does not save your hand histories automatically. So my first several SnGs are not saved. Booooo.

I’ve played in 14 SnGs so far if my memory is right and using the data saved from when I did enable hand history. I finished in the money on 7 of them and busted out in fourth place on two. All were 9 person turbo SnGs paying only the top three spots. For a while I was actually ranked decently on Full Tilt's tracking site of the low SnGs. Of course it has only been two days since their stats cleared!! HAHAHAHA

The SnGs are averaging 32 minutes. The winning SnGs are averaging 47 minutes. The losing ones are averaging 21 minute...

Same stuff, different day

Permanent Linkby K-rug on Fri Jun 01, 2007 10:47 pm GMT

The second day yielded more of the same. I played mostly turbo SnGs with a quick stint on a .5/1 NL table (about 15 minutes) while bored waiting for the wifey to finish preparing dinner.

After dinner I jumped on a few SnGs while the wife watched her Tivo’d soap operas. I took one or two horrendous beats in a couple of the SnGs early on. Who doesn’t though? Everyone has a story about AA getting cracked by 73 suited, a runner runner draw or gut shot that hit. It’s poker. It happens.

At the end of the day four things made me happy.

First, my initial deposit of $50 to test out the waters after almost a year not playing is up to $140 since yesterday evening just by playing SnGs.

Second was this hand:
Full Tilt Poker Game #2560549655: $11 + $1 Sit & Go (Turbo) (19488455), Table 1 - 15/30 - No Limit Hold'em - 18:17:28 ET - 2007/06/01
Seat 1: J2ThaP (1,485)
Seat 2: sebumd403 (1,455)
Seat 3: ElWolf (1,470)
Seat 4: Bups (1,500)
Seat 5: Krugar (1,470)
