Rebuilding Time

I had several bad days in 25NL cash games at the end of July and it has forced me to move down and change my game plan. Currently I'm playing 10NL, $6.50 turbos and $6.25 heads up matches.

10NL is ridiculously easy so far, it's going to require some adjustment for me, probably a 20% less cbetting or so, since players will float with a lot less, not because they're being creative, because they're idiots or don't care about the money.

The $6.50 turbos are somewhat of a crapshoot, but I've been trying to get better at them, I may stop playing them altogether, they haven't been too profitable for me, but an upswing will bring me a decent amount of money.

I'm loving the heads-up matches, these last anywhere from 5 - 20 minutes total, sometimes only go a few hands before I bust the other guy. Right now I'm 14-11, the rake is somewhat killer, but my money is on Stars right now so I've got to live with that. Once I start beating them consistently for a ROI of 10-15% or better, I'll...

Sick Human Being

Permanent Linkby TheSalche on Thu Jul 26, 2007 12:44 am GMT

I am a sick human being ... just like every other poker player. Somehow I keep coming back to it. Here's some turbo SnG results from the last few days:

QQ loses to TJ preflop all-in
QQ loses to AK preflop all-in
AK loses to TT preflop all-in
AQ loses to AJ preflop all-in
AQ loses to AK all-in after AK guy limps, I make a big raise, flop comes KQJ and I don't even improve to a chop.
QJ loses to Q8 all-in on flop of QT3, guy rivers his 8.

Pushed with J9 with 1400 chips at 100/200 level, BB calls with A5 and wins. Lost another few by pushing in poor spots with SCs and low PPs, running into high PPs each time. Tilt pushed J4 UTG with really low blind levels, get two callers, AT and K7, flopped a 4 but the turn was a king, so I couldn't luckbox my way into a win.

My hold'em has been going poorly. Managed to lose with two flopped sets, one against an OESD, got it all in on the flop and the guy turned his straight. No river boat. Another time I attempted to slowplay a...

"Trip" Report

Just got back from the RCG, drove home incredibly fast, probably got about two hours of play in and now I'm sitting here with a glass of Kettel One in hand as I type this ... so that'll make remembering hands just a bit more interesting.

So immediately I figure out that my table is horrible when I see a few hands go to third pair, ten high, you know, the usual stuff. In particular there is one terrible old woman (70s+) and a very passive older guy (55+). There was another guy who is probably an internet player like me, wearing a baseball cap and tilting his head down everytime he is in a hand. He was pretty aggressive and decent. Rest of the table is mediocre, I'd probably put myself at 2nd or 3rd best at the table even with my limited knowledge of limit hold'em. Anyways ... game is 1-3 spread limit hold'em, SB and BB post $1.

In the BB with KT, 5 people (including old donks) see a flop of 5K5. I bet out $2, old woman calls, old guy calls. Turn is 8 putting two diamonds on...

Bloggage ...

Been back at it for a few weeks now, I'm currently up about $40 I think ... even though my PT says I've been crushing 25NL. I'm pretty sure I had a few "ah f--k I just lost the hand I'm quitting out before Pstars records it" moments. Oh and I've lost $115 at 50NL, dumped about $45 on tournaments and lost like $15 last night at stud/8 cause I sucked it up. So I just gotta keep sticking to my guns and play a lot on the weekends because of how ridiculously soft the games get then.

Tonight I'm heading over to the Rockford Charitable Games 1-3 limit after work. I should be able to play for 2 or 3 hours, hopefully I'll do better than losing $50 like last time. Ugh, live limit poker. Better than nothing. If I lose again I'll probably just spend more weeknight time grinding 25NL.

Trip report to follow?

Back in the Game

Permanent Linkby TheSalche on Tue Jul 03, 2007 8:21 am GMT

Got my deposit from ePassporte and paid back Ensano, many thanks bud =). My bank statement is currently showing a pending deposit for $650 (from NetTeller) which is another good sign because I now have a bigger "bankroll." I'm still going to take the time to earn my bankroll grinding it out.

I've had a pretty good start, good upswing then a slight downswing where I hit maybe 2 or 3 sets but couldn't get anything out of people ... hands like AQ on AQ7 board where I 3bet preflop and there were 4 callers to flop but they folded to my flop bet.

Then I started off a session with this hand:

Table 'Fama II' 6-max Seat #1 is the button
Seat 3: gspeedy ($18 in chips)
Seat 5: Sonny617 ($24.95 in chips)
mrbumpkin: posts small blind $0.10
gspeedy: posts big blind $0.25
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to Sonny617 [Kd Ks]
looking@you: raises $0.50 to $0.75
Sonny617: raises $1.50 to $2.25
PURIFIED27: folds
mrbumpkin: folds
gspeedy: raises $1.50 to $3.75
looking@you: calls $3
Sonny617:...
